Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Apr 01, 2009 11:58 pm Hi there Michelle, Not sure if you can help with this one, but I'll put the question out there anyway... I have a 12 year old son, who dislikes doona's. I went down to Baines & Adairs the other day to see what they suggested. But, they did'nt really suggest anything. Do you know of anything or anywhere, that may have an alternative for him??? Re: Boys room 3Apr 02, 2009 5:43 am Angleblue, I didn't want to get a doona for my DS either. I prefer the easier temperature control of blankets. Freckles have a range of beautiful coverlets that go with their other linen pieces; here is the one I got for my son. The coverlet is like an embroidered thin quilt or comforter, and just sits on top of the bed on top of their blankets, or can be used as a blanket itself. I think they're great. We were tossing between the pirate range - I think Mrs B / or Petal had it - or that car one given that DS is car mad. Have cancelled preorders all because can't make up my mind. Some things are worth waiting for. Re: Boys room 5Apr 02, 2009 10:34 am Ok…looks like it’s been covered….hahhahaha. Not everyone likes doonas, they can be hot! Next choice would be, a light bedspread, and these should be easily found in stores like DJ's, Myer and a like, or online. I'm starting to lean more to a bedspread these days. Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com Re: Boys room 6Apr 02, 2009 10:39 am Gorgeous, donuts! Kyton, my 3 boys are a litle bit past that now , quite possible Mrs B had it - her youngest is still at that stage. Angelblue, it is soooo hard for older boys, isn't it????!!! Well, that is if you don't want black and grey skull & cross bones!!!! I could literaaly buy 20 sets for my daughter and love them all, but it's hard to find something fabulous for the boys. I have coverlets as well as doonas for all of my kids, so if they don't want one, they can use the other. I have the Sheridan surfing one for one of my boys, the Adairs kids Aloha (surf theme) for another. They're much lighter than doonas, so maybe he'd be happy with a coverlet, as donuts suggested? I'm not sure where you are, but you could try an Adairs store where they sell the kids' range (and often the outlet stores are really good ) or a Myer with a good range for Sheridan. If you have a DFO type place near you, they often have a few bedding stores all together. Not sure how, but I've had to rescue him a couple of times. Very uncool for a 12 yr old boy. I love the look of that blanket. But i think my son would have a fit if I got that. But I like the idea, I think that would be better suited. As you all have said finding something that he will like is going to be the hard part. I have checked Myer's near me in Perth. Their selection was a bit young too. Anyone know of any suitable web sites??
