Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Mar 23, 2009 3:56 pm Hi Michelle and everyone else who wants to give me some advice/ideas, I have FINALLY gotten everything to a stage where I am getting close to getting it right in the kitchen but I am just struggling with finishing it off. Our kitchen design is pretty unique, but to keep it simple, I'll say its a U shape with angles, similarish to PD's Francis I suppose you could say. Its so much easier when suggesting colours for everyone else, don't know how many times we've decided on different combos (not to mention the ridiculously huge pile of sample chips I've accumulated) - I've just kept it to the kitchen for this time around, stay tuned for other rooms in the house!! Kitchens Splash Back - Will be a glass splashback, but our builder is giving us the option to select a colour once the kitchen is installed. Bench Top - Quantum Quartz Turino 40mm square edge, looks great IMO with the stipple cocoa. Cupboard Doors - Laminex Stipple Cocoa, but do we go dimensions or natural finish? Overhead Cupboards - Considering either Smokey sappelle, lustrous elm or platinum micro, but are open to ideas as we are pretty lost with this one. Kickboard - Stipple Cocoa Taps - Sink Mixer Handles - Bar pull handle thingy Lighting - 3 downlights, one over sink, two over benches and another light in middle of kitchen also Wall colour - Hog Bristle 1/2 strength Tile colour - Todi Almond from Beaumonts, like a light cream colour, very neutral. Other things to note will be we have a 900mm freestanding oven and will have a 900mm glass canopy rangehood also. I guess we want the major attraction to be the QQ Turino benchtop, which is why I am steering away from Fudge Stream and more out there colours on top. Sorry to ask for help, its just getting to the annoying stage for us as nothing we come up with seems to work. ICK So glad the building is over, never again. Loooove our house, but still not quite sure it was worth all of the stress they put us through! Re: Help me finish my kitchen colour selections 2Mar 23, 2009 4:47 pm Just on your kitchen doors, you don't get to select what finish. Laminate doors only come in panelart finish (like natural). It's only benchtops you can stipulate dimension or natural. Re: Help me finish my kitchen colour selections 3Mar 23, 2009 6:44 pm Thanks MBBN, that solves that problem Well, in keeping with my last 6 months, we are still not sure about cabinet colours and thinking about changing. We are now tossing up between the following on the bottom to go with QQ Turino, Peruvian Clay, Stipple Cocoa, Stipple Seal and Magma. Has anyone used these colours? I like Magma, but does anyone think it gives off any green? Thats all I worry about with that one. ICK So glad the building is over, never again. Loooove our house, but still not quite sure it was worth all of the stress they put us through! Re: Help me finish my kitchen colour selections 4Mar 25, 2009 11:19 am Just bumping this one, anyone?? Re: Help me finish my kitchen colour selections 6Mar 25, 2009 1:14 pm I love Turino (as you know) and think it looks good with just about anything, I like the stipple cocoa, cause it's brownish, a very nice brown I might add, are you doing high gloss or matt?.... not sure what lustrous elm or platinum micro is, oooohhhh look what I found... Lustrous Elm Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Platinum Micro Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Not sure about either of these, I like the Lustrous Elm best but would then keep the splashback white on Starfire (do I sound like I know what I'm talking about ) and that's all I have to say Re: Help me finish my kitchen colour selections 8Mar 26, 2009 10:28 am Kyton/SuH, thanks for posting photos, if I wasn't so clueless would've done the same so thanks, you guys are legends! To me, the Lustrous Elm is like the cautious persons Fudge Steam, equally nice but not as out there It looks nice with the Turino against it actually, the internet picture of Platinum micro doesn't give it justice. It has speckles through it just like the stipple cocoa does - so maybe it would match? Aaaaahh! I rang Laminex the other day, found out Magma is only for Squareform benches, so had to cut that off the list - which is a bugger as I was leaning that way I think - looks stunning against the Turino but I need to let go! I think Peruvian Clay is too bold of a colour, I like patterns or 'stipples'! So I think bottom cupboards will be Cocoa. Has anyone used Platinum Micro? Am I right to say its better to have dark on bottom then light on top? ICK So glad the building is over, never again. Re: Help me finish my kitchen colour selections 9Mar 26, 2009 10:32 am Its taken me a little while to sort this one out…..there’s colours up on the thread that you haven’t mentioned. Re: Help me finish my kitchen colour selections 11Mar 26, 2009 6:26 pm I love my monitors…..they are so true to colour! Ok……Stipple Cocoa in the natural finish. I don’t like the Lustrous Elam with the Stipple Cocoa, too dark, IMO. How about Laminex Alaskan?
