I would like to know if anyone has built a colorbond Monument roof? I have the sample and it looks fantasitc- a real charcoal grey! My only concern is that it may be too dark and will fade really quickly. I have attached a picture of my redish brick, so i believe my options are monument or woodland grey. It would be great to hear peoples opinions on these two colours. Thank you, Nat. The bricks are from Boral and they are called Graphite. They were meant to have a slightly more grey silver tinge to them but this new batch came through a bit more fawn in colour, But DH likes them and I have had a few people stopping and asking me what they are so thats good. I went with Paperbark for the facia and windows and the garage door and front door will also be Paperbark. I am going to bring grey into the picture with outside lights each side of the garage doors and on the portaco pillars and with a stencil driveway (hopefully) and with a water feature in front of the lounge room windows. Sorry Nat, got carried away with Taffy's pics. My (biased cos I'm using it!) vote is for the monument. I think it would look great with your red bricks. What colour windows are you considering? Re: Colorbond Monument Roof 9Mar 14, 2009 5:48 pm Thanks everyone for the information and pictures!
Monument looks fantastic...exactly how i imagined it! Well this week i have decided on paperbark windows! (last week it was surfmist). I think paperbark would look a lot nicer...and have paperbark as the garage door? Taffy, your house looks great... i like the paperbark agaist the roof! Re: Colorbond Monument Roof 10Mar 15, 2009 8:54 am We liked monument, and also went for red bricks, but decided against it as it's the 3rd quickest colour in the colorbond range to fade, it would make the house at least 5deg hotter than the light colours (so that's increased energy costs), and we were also worried it would make the house look dark.
So we drove around new estates at other red brick houses, and saw that a lot of them are using surfmist with monument gutters/fascia/downpipes with dark window frames and it looked really nice. And colorbond told me that surfmist is the slowest colour to fade out of the range. Maybe that's an alternative you might want to consider.... Re: Colorbond Monument Roof 11Mar 15, 2009 3:30 pm Thanks Mrs_Smith for the information.
I have just registered on the colorbond website for a program where you can upload your picture and mix and match all facade colours. The home edition only cost $15!!! I will give all the above options a go, and see what they look like! I am very happy to spend $15 for piece of mind! and it sounds like fun too! Re: Colorbond Monument Roof 12Mar 17, 2009 6:59 pm you are right Mrs_smith, it may be too dark.
I think the monument with the red bricks may be too dark with paperbark. I am now thinking of going with the woodland grey to be safe. Although i just love the true charcoal colour of monument... decisions decisions!!! does anyone have pictures of monument roof with red bricks????? Re: Colorbond Monument Roof 13Mar 17, 2009 7:32 pm On my last house I used a charcoal grey tile roof with red bricks and paperbark and it looked lovely.
I like the dark grey and you can match things up easily with it, and as someone mentioned on here, in the colobond it could fade anyway. I will post some more photos to show you how the cooling system etc blends in well with the charcoal. Oops just realise that you can see it already If you are having cooling dont forget there arnt as many colours to choose like in the roof colours. We are using that brick as well (hopefully ours will have more silvery/grey to them), same colour windows and similar roof colour. Looks good! We've obviously got good taste.

If you really like Monument and your bricks, then perhaps consider having classic cream for your fasica/windows instead and off-white mortar?? just a thought Re: Colorbond Monument Roof 17Mar 17, 2009 10:42 pm thorney If you really like Monument and your bricks, then perhaps consider having classic cream for your fasica/windows instead and off-white mortar?? just a thought That is my exact colours for gutters, fascia and windows thorney.. so good idea... Judie Thats great show us some photos. I still reckon mine would have looked better if the bricks had been the excact colour they were meant to be I would say mine is a shade deeper in the pinker tones. But DH likes them better than the original ones that were on the display, (though I must admit there was more blending in the display one than mine, mine are more uniform in colour). So it all worked out well in the end. Your house roof does not show rusting other than some surface rust on the flashings. In my opinion you dont need to replace or paint the roof other than treat surface rust… 1 10228 You should pressure clean your roof first and make sure the paint you buy also is anti mould. 4 18580 Hi all, Our boundary perimeter fences need replacing (3 sides).
