Hello, we are trying to de-beige our home, and are thinking of using this carpet in our home now.. It will go in the lounge room ( which may end up a media room down the track), all of the bedrooms and the office. I know the fluff will be an issue, and also it will 'pull the room in'.. but do you think it would be a mistake to go this way, or should we go back to beige and make our home 'interesting' with artwork, rugs, cushions etc? Our walls will be Taubmans 'White Illusion" which is almost white ( i think ) I have posted this in the flooring forum also, but would like to get some 'colour experts' opinions please -Sha here is the other one we were going to go with... The tile beside the carpets is our main tile that is going in all other areas (except wet areas) Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: dark chocolate carpet? 2Mar 12, 2009 6:10 am I'll leave this to our colour expert but just 1 question : why does it have to be either a very dark carpet or very light ? Why not something in between ? That was 2 questions Built the Eden Brae Cambridge 34 Family with Boston Corner Facade Re: dark chocolate carpet? 3Mar 12, 2009 7:13 am How about keep the light carpet and go for a nice big fluffy feature rug - a lot more easier to change should your tastes change! Re: dark chocolate carpet? 4Mar 12, 2009 7:51 am You have kids Sha? I'd go the darker carpet if it was me.
Even though it's dark, it's not like it's a way out colour, it still is fitting in with your neutral scheme, so you can still add colour through art etc. I'm a big fan of dark flooring, I like how it gives a base and grounding to any colour scheme. That's just me though. I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Terrence Malick Re: dark chocolate carpet? 5Mar 12, 2009 12:32 pm I love the dark carpet with that tile and I think it will make the room intimate and cosy. I am getting darkish brown, a bit lighter than yours. I am not too keen on that beige colour, sorry, I know, it's not my house think of the stains Re: dark chocolate carpet? 6Mar 12, 2009 12:39 pm I love dark carpet, and we actually had that exact carpet (first pic) in our bedroom in the house we demolished. We replaced the lovely cream shag pile with that one and it was fantastic - very soft, hid the dirt, and wore well. We had it down for 4 and 1/2 yrs prior to bulldozing, and it still looked fantastic then....in fact, DH wanted to rip it up and keep it (which would have meant storing it, and then chucking it out after 10yrs )

Re: dark chocolate carpet? 8Mar 12, 2009 3:08 pm I think an in between may be better, considering your walls are going to be white, that’s one hell of a contrast between walls and floor. Black & white

Then we had the same carpet, but in chocolate brown. It's so hard to see colours properly on computer screens!!!!! The reason we were going either light or dark, was because there was no in between in the shop. I asked the sales lady if that was the full range, and was assured it was.. I thought it was a bit weird there was no in between. Well, Tim went to take the samples back, and lo and behold.. there is this carpet there! Someone must of had it out on loan.
