Think I can help you....I have Hog Bristle right throughout my house, too! Besides the Formica colour that I suggested, perhaps go down to Bunnings and grab the Hog Bristle paint card from the Dulux section. There should be a scanner thingamajig next to the Dulux section, where you just scan the back of the paint card and it prints off loads of complementary colours for your chosen colour (Hog Bristle). I did this and this is what I've come up with for my kitchen & rest of house. For the kitchen, I have 2 options: Option a. - CS Ice Snow benchtop - Dulux 'Self Destruct' splashback - white cupboards (not sure which white yet, like you!) - Dulux Hog Bristle walls - mid chocolate brown floorboards Option b. - QQ Coral Reef - Dulux 'Arava' splashback - Laminex `Polar White' cupboards (gloss) - Dulux Hog Bristle walls - mid chocolate brown floorboards Rest of my house: Hog Bristle, with white trims (doors, window trims). Other bedrooms: Wattyl 'Aspenwood' (pale green), Wattyl 'Winsome Lilac'. Exterior of House: Dulux Stonecrop, with edging/fascia in Hog Bristle. These Dulux colours, also complement Hog Bristle: - 'Plumberry' - 'Cottontail' - 'Shell Haven' - 'Woodland Brown' - ' Whisper White' - 'Bay's Water' - ' Deepest Water' - 'Gnu Tan' - ' Russian Toffee' - Raw cotton - Grecian gold - Bunker - Centra - Knapsack - New Penny - Mornington (half) - Sea Elephant - Jarrah hope that helps! Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Hi Angelblue, when you say high gloss do you mean 2pack paints or high gloss laminates? Do you want your kitchen to stand out or blend in? mozzi26….nice work! Thank you very much I have noted all of that.
MIchelle, I have been given an option from the designer to have either or. But I actually really like the idea of painted. I have seen painted and it looks brilliant!!! Re: KItchen colour help....please 5Mar 09, 2009 11:53 pm Michelle, I want a kitchen that I can walk into and go WOW!
WE do alot of entertaining so it needs to be pleasing to the eye, as everyone seems to end up in my kitchen when we have BBQ's or partys etc I also wanted something timeless, something that would'nt date to quickly, and also something where is I decided to change the colours on my walls its not going to effect the look of my kitchen. I suppose the other part and most likely the important part, is that i have four children 16yrs, 12yrs, 8 yr old twins. So I need something durable. Re: KItchen colour help....please 7Mar 10, 2009 6:01 pm joles angelblue, if you want something durable I wouldn't be getting high gloss 2pac. No Jo, 2pack’s ok, it wipes down very easily. I’m having a problem with imageshack tonight, so I’m not able to post photos/colours. I’ll see how it is tomorrow night! I love it, love how it looks. But I've seen it chipped to bits in displays and I know people that have had it and it chips if you aren't careful. I wouldn't get it with kids. I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Terrence Malick Re: KItchen colour help....please 9Mar 10, 2009 6:22 pm joles Yep it wipes down well, but it also chips easily as well. I have to say…..I will never have it either. I would rather go a full gloss enamel paint work on cupboards. Yes, we had this in our bathroom - never again. Built the Eden Brae Cambridge 34 Family with Boston Corner Facade Re: KItchen colour help....please 11Mar 11, 2009 5:11 pm So.. I am a bit confused. My head is swimming from all this kitchen stuff.
I have noticed in the magazines they refer to "2 pac" is this different from "off the gun lacquer" Then I have noticed Gloss laminates & Polytech Create C Ultra High gloss Sorry but whats the difference??? Re: KItchen colour help....please 12Mar 11, 2009 5:39 pm Off the gun lacquer…..that’s a good way off putting it!
I guess that’s just about what 2pac is, but lacquer is commonly a estapol/vanish which is not what you a having. It’s just the process that the paint gets put on, and the type of paint. By a spray gun, so you’re nearly right. It’s supposed to be tougher than normal paint, but as you have heard its not. Gloss laminates, is just that, a gloss laminate. Polytech is a brand of laminate, so same thing. Here is what I think you should do, just my opinion, choose a brand of paint….Dulux, Taubmans, whatever, and have your cupboards painted/sprayed in that colour in a full gloss enamel. This is a different process to 2pack. Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com Re: KItchen colour help....please 13Mar 11, 2009 6:03 pm Angelblue, I’ve been sitting here looking through my fan deck for colours, but your comment of “Timeless” keeps coming to mind.
I could suggest some colours, but unfortunately timeless wont be them. If you want timeless, I would look at full gloss crisp “White”! Stainless and chrome as the features. The timber floor will give the white the WOW factor you are looking for. Then its up to you to purchase a couple of unique items for the kitchen for show, some nice coloured glass bowls or plates, they will really stand out. What are you doing with your splash backs? Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com Re: KItchen colour help....please 14Mar 11, 2009 10:29 pm Thank you Michelle for explaining that. Its hard to get anyone to be just honest about products without getting the hard sell. So thank you , I appreciate it.
My husband came home with a Polytech Create C Ultra White High gloss sample today. Goodness, now there is different levels of gloss.'' A crisp white? Are you thinking something like Dulux vivid white or Dulux white on white?? In regards to splashback, we have budgeted for glass. But haven't looked at anything yet. Did you have something in mind? I was lucky enough to be given an Empire Red Kitchen Aid for my birthday this year, which of course will take pride in place the new kitchen and a couple of other bits & pieces. Re: KItchen colour help....please 15Mar 12, 2009 3:25 pm Pure white……WHITE!!!
This is soooo hard to explain to people, as there are some many so called whites out there. None of them really white though! Pure Gloss White, not tints no shades added! Already you have a something that stands out, the Empire Red Kitchen Aid, very good! Why not do your splash back in the Dulux Deep Garnet, now that will be a wow on the white! This is Jo’s kitchen. Different red though. There are just too many "whites'.
Then when you look laminate samples, you find the same thing...Ultra White, Classic White, Polar White, Pearl White, Antique White, Chalk white.......and the list just goes on. I really like the picture though. It looks great. So far we have - Bench top: Basmati 40mm Cabinets: White Gloss Kickboards: Formica - Brushed Pewter Glass splashback: ?? Walls: Hogs Bristol Feature Wall: Deep Garnet Colums: Soft Impala Re: KItchen colour help....please 17Mar 12, 2009 5:20 pm Do you see how the timber floor accentuates the white?
Nice combo. Deep Garnet – splash back??? I truly love feature grade timbers, just so much character.
Dulux Deep Garnet was an amazing discovery I had 5 yrs ago in Bunnings when I insisted on seeing their fandeck of colours. I was looking for something to just pop in our open plan living area and it does the job. I am concerned that if I have it as a splashback, it may not look too good with my red appliances. Re: KItchen colour help....please 20Mar 13, 2009 3:34 pm Angelblue I am concerned that if I have it as a splashback, it may not look too good with my red appliances. How many do you have? Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com Thankyou so much 😀 I've decided on White on white for doors and trims, White on white 50% on ceiling and Mt buller for walls. Fingers crossed it will look OK 😀 2 7170 Thank you @. Tried to play with the facade models but the exact colour is not matching up. 2 3273 Hi - thanks for your reply.
