Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Mar 01, 2009 11:27 pm It's too late now to change - its done and dusted...bought and ordered...I have not posted here until then because I was scared of second guessing my choices so now I am just sharing what has been done......
House layout The ceelings are plain white and the walls will be painted Dulux "white on white" which is a very cool white with a slightly silvery tinge... same colour but with gloss on internal doors & skirts (we have square set plaster throughout most of the house) Our windows & french doors are silver aluminium. We have tassie oak floorboards throughout the house except for: 4 bedrooms which will be this carpet and the wet areas which will be tiles (40x40 glazed porcelain beige/latte with grey/stone mosaic feature) I don't have any pics of them unfortunately.. The kitchen is the feature of the whole house so I wanted it to stand out and be bold...I am not really a fan of boring...uh hum...i mean 'neutral' colour schemes...so decided to take a leap of faith..... Kitchen layout Kitchen drawers & cupboards - Laminex stipple grass!! (it looks very green on my screen, a lot more subtle in real life!) Kitchen benchtop - ceaserstone nougat In addition, the kickers and handles are brushed aluminuim, the sink is stainless steel, gas cooktop will be black ceramic glass, and the double underbench ovens are black/ss and the rangehood will be ss. We are having white splashback (no green tinge) it will look nice altogether! Laundry will have stipple grass green cupboards with Laminex squareform benchtop in Pure Calcite - my sample is white with a bit of very light grey/blue spec through it - the screen shows up very blue! The kids bath vanity cabinet will be laminex Mellow Reed and benchtop will be as above - pure calcite. The ensuite will be ceaserstone nougat benchtop with the mellow reed cabinet...again my sample looks a lot more beige than the pic on screen... We purchased a pre made vanity unit for the powder room which has ceaserstone nougat benchtop with laminex Espresso Ligna cupboard Our basins/taps/mixers etc are all very modern to suit the contemporary style of the house......I don't think it will be disasterous, however if none of these colours flow well, I can always blame it on being 7 months pregnant when final choices had to be made Wish me luck! I will post pic's as soon as its all done! Ruth -Bought house in Melbourne inner burbs, knocked it down & now...we are owner builders! I love bold statements with colours! When will it actually be in? You can't promise pics then not give a time frame. I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Terrence Malick Re: Interior colours chosen... am I crazy?!!! 3Mar 02, 2009 8:52 am It looks very interesting and I like bold colour, just don't have the courage to go there myself I think it will look really fresh and clean, nice NOUGAT benchtop and the green with the white splashback, noice. Definitely photos please, it will be nice to see something unique. Already I can feel a "WOW" coming on
Bytheway, I love your carpet, can you give me the name etc. tah Re: Interior colours chosen... am I crazy?!!! 4Mar 02, 2009 9:56 am wow ruth, I have no idea if it will look good all together, but good on you for being so brave!
Nougat is a lovely colour and will look great with the espresso ligna ... also like the carpet, it looks like a nice mushroomy colour? I guess now is not the time to tell you I also selected some stuff at 7 months pregnant, only to do a big 180 a few months after baby came  "Your emotions are the slaves to your thoughts, and you are the slave to your emotions." — Elizabeth Gilbert Living in our new house. I LOVE that green, I'm using it as a feature wall in my next house, and 3 shades lighter, for the kitchen cupboards. Re: Interior colours chosen... am I crazy?!!! 15Mar 02, 2009 7:05 pm Love your colours!. Its so nice to see a bit of colour in a house. We have chosen a white kitchen and whilst i still like it i wish i had been more open minded about using some colour. Can't wait to see it all! Re: Interior colours chosen... am I crazy?!!! 16Mar 02, 2009 7:17 pm Ruth I saw a kitchen with these greens on the cabinets not so long ago in our Home Ideas centre in Cheltenham melb, and my gosh, it was sensational, really stunning... I was in awe of the display. I eagerly showed my DH, whose face resembled the cabinet colours, so naturally, we won't be getting them, but I absolutely loved it. I think you will be pleased.

Very nice, I like them. I think the carpet is Spring Ridge, that was the runner-up to my chosen carpet lol. I LOVED that colour so much.
