Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Feb 17, 2009 10:49 pm concrete colour for our driveway that is.
Hi everyone! I really Just wanted a quick opinion from anyone who can be bothered... We have redish bricks, black windows, timber look garage door (jarrah), the front door colour is "morrocan" by Taubmans (sort of dark teracotta colour) (I can't find a sample of the colour on the net!!!) and I have no idea what to colour my concrete driveway. The only reason I am colouring it is because it is an estate covenant to do so. So I've paid the upgrade fee of $500 to my builder to do it, but have no idea which colour to go with. Any suggestions are most welcome! (or pics if you have one) Here's the brick colour on display at Austral (red gum): Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Here is another homeoner's building in progress using our selected bricks: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Here is the colour sample for my timber look door by Colourbond (Coaba Dawn): Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ And I'm assuming you don't need to see a sample of Black!!! lol If I could find a sample of morroccon on the net I would... Ok, so what colour concrete.....what colour is your roof gonna be annie? I'd guess perhaps black or grey?? If so, l would suggest either a mid/dark grey to tie in with greys in your bricks and the roof? Other than that, l have no idea! lol Good luck, hopefully someone here will post some pics and give you some inspiration Re: Need help on selecting a concrete colour??? 3Feb 18, 2009 12:15 pm oh yeah, sorry, roof is pheonix (black I think)...
I thought a dark grey driveway, but I'm not sure??? Annie A thankful person is a happy person. One tip ... not sure who your concrete supplier is, but if you are using CCS (concrete colour systems), BEWARE that their colours are a LOT lighter than their brochure. I have found this by experience... I picked a mid grey called 'Oyster' (top left colour on the attached brochure), but it has turned out nearly WHITE, the same colour as our footpath, it doesn't look like there is any colour in it at all. http://www.concretecoloursystems.com.au ... urCARD.pdf We are (well I am anyway) very disappointed with it. Re: Need help on selecting a concrete colour??? 8Feb 18, 2009 5:23 pm Annietom try this mob's colours :
http://www.hansoncm.biz/products/kolormasta.shtml They have brochures for different parts of Aust. Just click on the appropriate city in the top RH corner. They will mail it out to you in a couple of days. But beware, Hanson won't recommend a concretor in your area - I tried that. They suggested to just ring around & ask who uses their colour-through concrete. I actually think once the garden is done, that driveway will look fine. I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Terrence Malick Re: Need help on selecting a concrete colour??? 11Feb 18, 2009 7:54 pm That looks like road base on the drive.
And as Jo just said, once the landscaping is done….it will look good. And about posting someone else’s home up here on the forum…….you better hope their not a member! Be careful posting other people's houses... imagine if that was a forum member!!! I actually think once the garden is done, that driveway will look fine. lol - I would tell them that I only take pics of the best houses in the estate!!! but good point... hope the rego is faded out well enough tho.... as for your comment, I so hope you are right, I just wish I could see a home with my colours and it actually look good... am I asking to much ???? Maybe I should go with a decorative finish on the drive to be safe (eg. pebble mix, stenciling???) then colour won't matter so much... gawd, how much is that gonna cost me now.... Don't worry I am sure it will all look fine!!
Do you have to pick the driveway colour now? Maybe wait till the house is done first and see what looks good then - might be totally different to what you think now, and you'll have spent all this time obsessing for nothing! Re: Need help on selecting a concrete colour??? 14Feb 18, 2009 8:04 pm donuts, thanks for trying to help, but let's face it, until I resolve this dilemma in my mind, the sleepless nights continue. I might add, I lost about one week's sleep over picking the bricks,,, so I'm due some sleep!
yes you are right, I'm one of those pedantic worriers... I just have to resolve this so I can go back to my "normal" life again.... lol But seriously, you all make good points, wait and see, and when the house is completed, it will look ok. (hmmmm, I don't sound convinced yet!) A thankful person is a happy person. We'll be having Toppings (either Lilydale, Torquay or Tuscan). It suits our estate and it's cheap!!!! Yay!!!!
But honestly, I think charcoal is the best for your colours. I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Terrence Malick Thank you @.
