Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Feb 15, 2009 12:58 pm Hi everyone
We love the PGH Brick - Cassica (with off white flush or ironed mortar)....but have no idea what render would suit it...looking for some ideas. The bricks will only be shown around the 3 sides of the garage door and the upside down U around the front door (2 storey house). So the majority is render. We have chosen Monument for the roof and pipes/gutters. We were also thinking white powdercoated windows but are unsure of that now too. It is a fairly contemporary design. Thanks for the help. So you are suggesting the render that would look good would be the 2 dulux colours? Also I have noticed a lot of people using Dune as a render to quite dark brown brick....is this an option....what do you think? Iam not sure if the Dulux colours you suggest (can't see the first one - not loading) will make the whole look too dark?? thanks Flaksy Re: Render to suit Dark Brown Brick? 11Feb 16, 2009 2:32 pm Dflaks….you didn’t say wether you wanted the render a dark colour or a light colour, so I just matched the bricks to A COLOUR.
I’m only suggesting ONE of the colours, up to you to decide which one if any. Dune is a good base colour for just about any colour combo. My colours are dark, but they will complement the timber work, bricks, and if you do white windows and window dressings. We are keen on the white windows because we want white trims inside, now to try and get screenshot of roughly what it will look like so I get the ok from the boss!!
Thanks for the help. Re: Render to suit Dark Brown Brick? 15Feb 16, 2009 4:01 pm I think Mich's colours are gorgeous and a tad different as well.
But if you wanted something lighter, Petal used a lighter render with quite dark brick. She has a Dune garage door and white windows. Her place looks stunning. Her render is similar to Dune but the name escapes me at the moment. I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Terrence Malick Re: Render to suit Dark Brown Brick? 16Feb 16, 2009 4:20 pm Thanks, Jo. I was going to post my colours when I saw this...but didn't want to sound a bit presumptuous!!!!
Our brick is Austral Hawthorn, which is very dark - really similar to yours. We have off white mortar, and, as Jo said, the garage door is Dune. The render is Dulux "Time Capsule", which is really similar to Dune, but with just a tinge more brown, or warmth to it. It's a really nice colour, we're very happy with it! LOVE your facade, dflaks! Solidarity, not solidity.......The Lexicon of Life Re: Render to suit Dark Brown Brick? 17Feb 16, 2009 4:38 pm I would just like to slip in a quick response.
As I said, Dune is a great colour, or any other colour like dune, and will always make a nice combo with most colour schemes. BUT…….I don’t do what everyone else does, no offence here to anyone!!!!!! That’s what being a colour consultant is all about, I…….come up and do, what is uniquely your own colour scheme……not reproduced up and down your street, or your estate. You will NEVER see any of the homes I have done, looking like each other. You can be assured you will have a very different colour scheme. After all……who wants to build a house that every Tom, **** and Harry has……. I'm not sure if there's one on here. If you PM Petal she may have one?
I know she isn't getting back on tonight, but I'll see her tomorrow, so I'll ask her for you. I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Terrence Malick Re: Render to suit Dark Brown Brick? 20Feb 16, 2009 6:12 pm Thanks Joles, I PM'd her as well.
I understand Michelle and appreciate it. And also without meaning to offend anyone on the forum, and perhaps being a little bit cheeky, having a couple of choices to show my wife is a good thing....as she has a habit of changing her mind quite often and at times at the last minute!!! At least if we narrow it down to a couple of choices it will hopefully be easier for her....and me!
