Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Feb 01, 2009 6:59 pm I'm hoping you can help me here MIchelle.
I have gone for the white look - thinking I'll introduce colour with furniture and decor but I think I may have gone too stark. A little background - I like (what I think is) the French Provincial farmhouse look, pine/whitewashed and brown hued furniture/decor. So the main living/kitchen/dining is a large open area with a large island bench and here are my choices. Walls - White on White Kitchen Benchtops - Laminex Freestyle - Crystal Vanilla Kitchen Cupboards - Vinyl Wrap - Designer White Kitchen Splashback - a white tile with a bit of texture. Handles - Silver - as in picture So what are your thoughts? Is the White on White too much? And I'm thinking that kitchen is going to be too white? I'm an slowly going crazy as my husband doesn't care (really he doesn't) and I think I have no idea! I think it will look fantastic, its a blank canvas and you can add as much/little colour as you wish with your furniture, art and decorations. I'm probably abit bias
The painters are coming this week to paint white on white on my walls, so I'll be able to share photos hopefully. Re: The "white" help... 3Feb 01, 2009 10:04 pm I love that look!! We tossed it up for the house we're building now!! I lived in Maine for a while, country USA as a kid and all the houses had that farmhouse/french look and it was homely and nice!!
Pictuing what you are trying to achieve i wonder weather you had considered Marble Benchtops? It's often put with the French Provincial White Kitchens and looks really stunning. It is still white but has that grey running through to break it up. It looks very elegant as well. The tiles are very often the white subway style tiles paired with it too. What flooing are you having? If your having a timber floorboard it won't be too much at all - it will look great!! If it's white tiles too it will still look great but not really going to give you the look you after. It may end up looking very modern !! What it’s going to look like finished with all your bits and pieces around the kitchen. All this will give you colour, pattern and texture, all you need! I think it will be lovely……concentrate on the big picture. I've jst been worried that maybe I shouldn't have gone white on white - I couldn't find it on the dulux site (we live along way from the shops - 300km) and quite liked Fair Bianca but anyway we'll have to see...
M!issy = I'd love to see some photos when its done cascre - Love the kitchen and the links - already been through potterybarn - but its made me depressed about furniture choices over here! My other option for benchtops is wood - but due to maintenance issues I can't really justify it and marble is not in our budget!
