Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Jan 30, 2009 4:43 pm Hi guys and gals,
Our house is at lock up stage at the moment and i'm having a bit of a funny moment cause it's not turning out how i planned. my plan with colours was to go with a greyish theme so we went to our colour appt and picked all the colours which were all in the greyish/brown theme - or so they looked in the showroom. Anyway, it's turned out a lot more brown than I thought. These are our colours so far: Kitchen cabinets - Formica 'Mulga' Benchtop - Essa Stone 'basmati' Paint - Bristol 'Aria Ivory' (this is what has really thrown me as the colour consultant convinced us that it was grey and it's very much come out creamy Now these colours in themselves all work together (I think!! Feel free to disagree - I'm no expert) but because we were going for a grey theme, we have dark grey floor tiles picked out which i'm worried are going to totally clash. Floor tiles are 'venus olive' Does anyone know how to upload these colours - in particular the paint colour and tile colour. Can anyone reassure me in my colour choice? or am i totally off track Thanks so much for reading this massive post! Re: Tile colour 2Jan 30, 2009 4:53 pm I don't know about your colours specifically but trust me (and Joles will also agree I think), greys are very difficult.
When you do your colour selections you need to have all your greys together to see if they are from the same family of greys. You will find that people call "grey" something I would call "brown" and someone else would call "green" and yet someone else could swear it was "blue". Re: Tile colour 3Jan 30, 2009 4:57 pm Thanks mek, I'm quickly finding out what you meant about greys being difficult to match.
I know the colours i've picked won't be a definite grey (most are a muddy browny grey - that sounds awful ) I just think I've mixed 2 total different looks - 1 being light, breezy warm colours and the other being sleek, cool colours. I guess I'll have to wait til it's finished!! Thanks for replying Re: Tile colour 4Jan 31, 2009 4:27 pm ED Thanks mek, I'm quickly finding out what you meant about greys being difficult to match.
