Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Jan 27, 2009 10:20 am Hi,
I have just realised that we have a 2.5m breakfast bar bench in the kichen, and that the back of it will be alabaster, the same as my kitchen cupboards. I would really like to make this a different colour. Can anyone suggest ideas, as it is too late now to change the laminate colour. Would I be able to wallpaper it? Paint it? other ideas? Any advice welcome -Sha Re: Changing the colour of the breakfast bar 2Jan 27, 2009 4:34 pm You can paint it, but you need to prep the surface with a primer type thingy.
EPS? I think it’s called; it will help the paint stick the laminate. I have to say wallpaper sounds interesting; do you have kids that will be sitting there kicking the underside? If so, you would need to watch that, actually you will need to watch that if you paint it as well. If you just have the back of the bar to worry about and no stools and little feet, wallpaper sounds funky. The good thing about this is, when you get tired of the look and pattern, you can replace it. There will be kids sitting there, but my kids are 8, 10 and 13, so their feet "should" be on the barstool, not the back of the bench. I like the idea of wallpaper, especially the natural fibre wallpaper. I have written to the company that sells it to ask their opinion.. It will be interesting to see what they say. I am worried that paint will look like an after-thought (I know it is, but I dont want it to look like it is ) -Sha Re: Changing the colour of the breakfast bar 4Jan 27, 2009 4:47 pm I just had a whole laminated kitchen painted, it came up really nice.
If it’s done properly it will be fine. But the fibre wallpaper sounds really good! Good luck with the wallpaper company. I am happy to send you a small sample should you wish to test it. so I have asked them for a sample of the wallpaper, and also the adhesive they recommend to use , so we can see how it will work.. I will update when I get the sample -Sha Please suggest a solid quality swivel bar towel holder in bathrooms & bedrooms from… 0 3130 How much are you ahead in payments compared to where the build is at?
