Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Jan 23, 2009 3:23 pm Hi Michelle / everyone.
We went through a 'basic' interior decorator service to help us with a colour palette for tiles, paint, benchtops, etc. They've come back to us suggesting that the wall colour is different to the door & frame colour, which I have my doubts about! Is this normal? It's not hugely different - but I'm used to all the walls and doors being the same colour. They've suggested Solver Paper White (low sheen) on the walls and 50% Smoke Pearl (gloss) on the frames and doors. Should I run with that? Or should everything be the same colour? Re: Different colour on internal walls 2Jan 23, 2009 3:36 pm This is a look that was in many years ago, then changed to all the one colour and is now back again…..strongly.
I have no problem with it. As long as you can see the difference in the two colours. Looking at the colours, yes there is a difference in them . I personally really like the Smoke Pearl….I would get some sample pots just to make sure they go together…..I’m not sure looking at them. I quite like the Whitehouse & Smoked Pearl. The Paper White is a little yellow. (I prefered the Smoke Pearl too... ) Re: Different colour on internal walls 4Jan 23, 2009 3:39 pm Sunflower,
We have two - Wattyl Chalk Beige on the Walls and Wattyl Chalk Dust on the doors, frames, skirting. I love this look and it suits my house and furniture. I loved it in every display home I went into. Maybe have a look at some displays if you are not sure and then make up your mind. Good luck Happy at Home Re: Different colour on internal walls 5Jan 23, 2009 3:44 pm Wow, those pics are gorgeous. Happy at Home Re: Different colour on internal walls 9Mar 08, 2009 7:40 am They are very nice colours in your home H2B I much perfer the contrasting two colours as well.
Mrs B Re: Different colour on internal walls 10Mar 08, 2009 7:51 am I'm thinking of doing something a bit different. I've seen it in a couple of display homes and I'm pretty sure we'll do it.
They use a colour on the walls and then a contrasting colour on the skirts and arctitraves in the gloss. But for the doors, rather than continuing the contrasting gloss colour, they do the wall colour but in gloss. Looks really fresh and a bit different. I'm planning on having the one flow colour throughout, no feature walls, but having the flow colour half strength in the wet areas, as they are small rooms and they'll feel a bit lighter and fresher with half strength. I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Mrs B, our last house we built had Antique White USA themax, the flooring is great, it wasn't our first choice (I rang to confirm delivery of our 1st choice and they had no stock!) but I love this one more so it worked out for the best in the end. Jo, your idea sounds nice. What colour have you decided on? Happy at Home Re: Different colour on internal walls 14Mar 08, 2009 8:24 am joles I'm not sure yet. oh......when is your house starting?
