Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Jan 30, 2009 1:44 pm Hi everyone,
I am new to this site and new to home decorating in general. We have just purchased this townhome. I hate the yellowy walls but will keep the floorboards as they are. Can you suggest colours that would suit the walls and feature wall (currently goldish colour in 2nd pic). I have been looking at dulux paints and love browns such as Soft Impala and Sago. However don't know if I need lighter paints as the rooms aren't huge. Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I agree!! Those walls are way too yellow!! I love a nice white with light floorboards - it looks so crisp. I think Dulux Antique White USA or Chalk USA would look great. What are the colours of your kitchen, furnishings etc?? Re: Please help me with paint colours for these rooms 3Jan 30, 2009 2:23 pm I would also do a white on the walls. Your feature wall will be more of a statement that way and it will make the room fresher too. Re: Please help me with paint colours for these rooms 4Jan 30, 2009 2:33 pm Chalk USA is a great colour Re: Please help me with paint colours for these rooms 5Jan 30, 2009 3:08 pm Soft Impala is way too dark as a main colour for your walls.
Sago in 1/4 or 1/2 is not bad, but a little on the pink side? I am hoping to get new furniture was thinking a dark chocolate coloured lounge, but not too sure yet. The kitchen is white with blue tiles, we will be renovating the kitchen one day and I will match it to the colours we pick for the rest of the house, but that's not in the budget yet unfortunately!
Michelle, thanks for your advise, that is exactly what I need to know! I was thinking Soft Impala for a feature wall, do you still think would be too dark? I didn't realise the Sago would turn out pink looking, I guess I am after a light whitish colour, without any yellow too it, I'm not into yellow at all! I thought the sago was more a browny-white. What sort of tinge do you think the Dulux Antique White USA or Chalk USA have? I can't tell by looking at the colour charts. Thanks again everyone, I am pretty hopeless with all this stuff, hoping to become much more informed before I make any choices! Re: Please help me with paint colours for these rooms 7Jan 30, 2009 8:37 pm PS. Probably should mention for upstairs, I plan on a light brown carpet (like the one in the Firestone Red style -last pic - on Porter Davis website) So a wall colour that would suit that would be great. Thanks Re: Please help me with paint colours for these rooms 8Jan 31, 2009 4:37 pm Jodes Michelle, thanks for your advise, that is exactly what I need to know! Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com Thankyou so much 😀 I've decided on White on white for doors and trims, White on white 50% on ceiling and Mt buller for walls. Fingers crossed it will look OK 😀 2 3618 |
