Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Jan 17, 2009 12:46 pm Okay heres the scariest one yet!! I went crazy with the Ensuite. Very dramatica and I'm very scared in real life it's going to be VERY overpowering!! In my mind it looks awesome....but....
Ensuite floor Black Granite Tiles. Vanity cupboards and benchtop in Laminex Designed Timber Veneer - Sublime Walnut. White Round Vessels Basins, shiny chrome tpas etc and shower dumper in shower. Freestanding Bath. The bit I went crazy with was the wall tiles. Floor to Ceiling in Loft Negro Floral 150x600. I posted the photo of them. They are floor to ceiling in the shower and all walls and behind the vanity. A rectangle mirror sits in them above the basins. I have a large chandeleir in the middle of the room and lights above the vanity too. I was worried about it being to dark with all the dark tiles. There is a large timber window which is stained in Walnut Stain.... Honest Opinions please....Thanks so much!! Re: And now the Ensuite.... 4Jan 17, 2009 1:10 pm My question is, are the wall tiles going to the ceiling? Is this what you are going for? Above the vanity though the mirror is very large so most of that space is taken up by the mirror. Theres pretty much room for 2 tiles under the mirror and one tile above the mirror and one tile either side of the vanity going down from ceiling to floor on either side of the vanity. I double checked the tile plan and I left the wall with the window completly free - just painted in the Purest White. Good thing?? Will the walnut work? It looks amazing when you lay it next to the tile - the sandblasted finish has the fanitest of black lines through it which the tile seems to pick up...... - I do want it to be wow - but wow good not wow bad!!! Re: And now the Ensuite.... 8Jan 17, 2009 1:26 pm Ok so you do have one wall in the white…yes that’s a good thing!
You will need some light bouncing in that space. It will work, not something I would do….only because I feel the colour and grain in the Walnut is very dominating as well, so you will have 2 elements in the space that are dominating, 3, as well as the chandelier. I feel the walnut will draw the eye away from the tiles, which is a shame, they are lovely. BUT, as I said it will work. Very dark and moody…….. Should I change the top to a caserstone white to break it all up? I guess I was going the walnut because it kind of linked the kitchen and other bathroom and the ensuite - I used that for the cupboards in all those rooms. I really want the tiles to stand out though!! They cost so much they really need to be the main feature!! Re: And now the Ensuite.... 10Jan 17, 2009 1:40 pm Honestly??? Love the tile, love the whole "theme" you are trying to create with the chandelier and all.........but I just would have chosen something different for the Laminex Vanity colour. Both nice in isolation, not sure about together. Is it not too late for you to change things with PD now??? Is the bathroom open plan without door or closed with a door? HOME- is where your story begins! Re: And now the Ensuite.... 14Jan 17, 2009 3:12 pm I'm actually going against the grain. I lurve it. I think it will look great!! Re: And now the Ensuite.... 15Jan 17, 2009 3:29 pm How big is your ensuite? I would be worried that it would be too overpowering in a small space.
We have vanities very similar to that Laminex sample and got to say that they aren't to my taste (this is a brand new rental and has it in the powder room, ensuite and main bathroom). Although they have it with plain white wall tiles and a pale chocolate floor tile so it looks fresh. We have a fairly huge ensuite 4.5m by 3.8m and I am sticking to fairly light colours but each to their own. My "wallpaper" tiles are taupey-green and I can't wait for them. You are very brave with your choices - very different from most here who are choosing neutrals. Love the idea of a chandelier but DH has chosen a Tastic so no go with us. Am considering one either in our dressing room or bedroom (will definitely be having one in DD's bedroom) Some things are worth waiting for. Re: And now the Ensuite.... 16Jan 17, 2009 5:03 pm cascre, if you get a chance, go out to M3tricon's Point Cook display and have a look at the ensuite and bathroom in the Nolan 45. They have used a black floor tile, embossed black wall tile for the entire ensuite and River Cherry for the vanity.
Very similar to what you're after! There are pictures on the website but they don't do it justice. Go and have a look, I think you'll get a really good idea of what your selections will look like. Jo I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Terrence Malick Re: And now the Ensuite.... 18Jan 18, 2009 10:16 am This is the only pic I had from the ensuite in that M home I was talking about above.
Honestly, the white of the freestanding bath and the basins and big mirrow will lighten the space. This is the pic of the spa... unforunately I don't have one of the shower but they used the same tiles. http://i519.photobucket.com/albums/u353/joles_photo/2008-07-30_13-26-28_30072008174.jpg I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. I love the tiles, a lot .... well I had better I am having the same but Loft Almond in my powder room, but am only having one wall done in it. I would do the vanity in white stone and isn't there a Licorice Linea? this might go better with the black. Re: And now the Ensuite.... 20Jan 18, 2009 12:52 pm cascre... go to pics 17, 18, 19 on this web address. Just replace the stars with M3tricon... this site filters the word.
It shows the bathroom and ensuite I was talking about with the wood veneer (River Cherry) vanity. http://www.metricon.com.au/victoria/hom ... fault.aspx I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Terrence Malick Thanks for the suggestion. The space between shower and sinks was too tight. I agree about the toilet location. So I have tried two other options: The lower one is… 3 6139 the step up is 30mm and wanting it to be flat . how much does the concrete have to be lowered .we plan on removing bath and lenghten shower and adding seat. the old bath… 0 11835 |
