Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Jan 13, 2009 11:54 am Hey guys, just wondering if anyone has made their own artwork for their homes? Be it paintings, sculpture, drawings etc... its nice to have a personal touch i think, for those that are confident to do so i suppose?
I know i can buy and i do LOVE some of the stuff on ww.canvas.com.au I've got some large canvases at home, that i've been dying to try, but feeling a little nervous to start...LOL... I was thinking maybe some acrylic paintings (not confident enough to try oils) and some charcoal human drawings that i've sketched (but on a smaller scale)... Anyone out there done it already or planning too? Any pics you would like to share?? Re: Home made artwork?? Anyone tried it?? 2Jan 13, 2009 12:09 pm My cousin in Sydney (who I might add has a bloody beautiful house!) has decorated her childrens room with canvas painting that she has done - she has a set of canvases for each quilt cover set that the kids have that she's matched to them. A number of times DW has created something on canvas which looked good, but then "added" to it the next day and we both agreed b*ggered it up. Re: Home made artwork?? I think it was Stormy who created some lovely canvas art with painted backgrounds and paper. They look fabulous and If i had young daughters I'd be considering something like this for their rooms. BTW Nice avatar photo. Re: Home made artwork?? Anyone tried it?? 5Jan 13, 2009 1:47 pm Hey Mike, are you allowed to post any pics??? Re: Home made artwork?? Anyone tried it?? 6Jan 13, 2009 1:50 pm Hi Phoenix (is that photo from your Wedding day on your avatar? It's gorgeous!)
I have 'dabbled' in artwork, and as Kexkez mentions they are painted canvas background with glued on paper as the design. I can't draw to save myself, but I can cut out bits of paper! I have done 3 seperate pieces so far, but only have photos of 2 of them. I also have some wonderful ideas in the pipeline. Hi Donuts, I usually get the paper from invitation supply shops, Lincraft have some (but not in single sheets). I have used some scrap booking paper, but it's usually not as shiny, and I don't like the 'vintage' browny and stripey look that some scrapbooking papers have, like this: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ But I love things like this, almost wallpaper looking: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ It's 'roughly' $2 per A4 sheet, depending on where it's purchased. Anyone tried it?? 20Jan 14, 2009 9:44 am Ages ago, I used to do folk art stuff- cut it out myself, and paint it, attach the wire, etc. It's actually not my taste in decor at all, but I used to really enjoy doing it A gf and I used to go to a market once a month (she made childrens' clothes - she's a fantastic sewer!) That was waaaaay back when we only had one (very young) child each !!!
