Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge Re: Home made artwork?? Anyone tried it?? 403Oct 05, 2011 9:38 pm I really love the artworks with a bit of a 3d effect, been inspired by paper art I've seen here and also other sites, so here's my first attempt at one, with glass removed from the frame. Next time I think I'd use smaller butterflies and experiment with different papers and colours. I wonder if people would actually purchase this kind of artwork. What's everyone's opinion? http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/83 ... lypic.jpg/ Re: Home made artwork?? Re: Home made artwork?? Anyone tried it?? 406Oct 06, 2011 8:17 am That's lovely, Pauline! I have thought about doing one similar as a change from the ones I normally do, but I haven't picked up a piece of paper or scissors for months....I have been too busy with life. I hope to get 'creative' again one day, as I have so many unfinished pieces. Henley - Wilshire Mk 3 ... I love my house!! I am soooo looking forward to my next abstract art full day course to learn some new techniques. I had to stop myself from doing more paintings beforehand as I was running out of canvases! LOL.... the ones I bought for Dad to paint on when he gets here... The course is not until the end of October and we are possibly moving house soon too, so may not be able to pain for awhile! Re: Home made artwork?? Anyone tried it?? 408Oct 06, 2011 4:43 pm Thanks guys for the positive feedback. I've seen similar butterfly artworks in a couple of stores for $70-$80, smaller and simpler too. I can't believe the price they put on them, so maybe I'll have a go at selling them... My smaller 6 butterflies in a frame sell in a shop for $70. My larger 20 butterfly ones are about $140. They need to be that price so i make something, and the shop makes something, otherwise there is no point! Although buying them directly from me is a little cheaper Henley - Wilshire Mk 3 ... I like the idea of doing something fun and creative to make pocket money so I might make several and approach some stores and see what happens. Re: Home made artwork?? Anyone tried it?? 411Oct 12, 2011 11:53 am It's not exactly artwork, but I made this cushion on the weekend for next to nothing. The blue material was given to us when we attended my cousin's wedding in Thailand so I made a comforter for the end of the bed in the guest bedroom. The patterned material used to be on our bathroom window in London when we lived there 18 years ago so there's a bit of history attached to this cushion - and it only cost me $5 for the insert. The pattern's from a Spotlight magazine but needed a bit of tweaking. Re: Home made artwork?? Anyone tried it?? 413Oct 12, 2011 7:12 pm Hey everyone! I found this thread and WOW!!! You are all so creative!! Im currently building my house and have been looking at abstract canvas pics for the colour schemes I want but wanted the art to be personal. I didnt even think to create more of my own art for the house (probably because I have so much to do to the house once we are in) and you have all done beautiful pieces!! We want to have a music room in our house and originally started my first ever painted artwork piece. I went to NEDS (cheap as chips kind of shop) and baught the colours/canvas/brush etc and had a go. Here is what I have done so far....unfortunately it is in storage until our house is finished. I wanted to have the instruments we play in the pic so I painted a wonky piano... Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ ...and on the right will be the bass guitar (and treble and bass clef too). Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ The paints were cheap and hard to work with though :S You have all surely inspired me to create more canvas pictures!! Re: Home made artwork?? Anyone tried it?? 414Oct 13, 2011 7:52 am Wow ... that will look fantastic when it's finished ... great stuff Love the colours ... I thought yours had merit - the colours are gorgeous - love the blue and orange - maybe you could play around a bit with it if you don't like it. You can't compare it to the green one ... that's so serene and yours is fiery!! Anyone tried it?? 420Oct 31, 2011 5:28 pm Sorry Victoria! I thought you had done both of them. They look like they have been done by the same person. Your one looks great, it makes me think of bush fires and volcanoes. The green one reminds me of rainforests and waterfalls, and that's me all the way. I think you have done a great job, sorry for the mix up..
