Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Dec 27, 2008 4:09 pm Hi
I am currently travelling overseas in the USA but am about to return home to Aussie and would like to give my flat a facelift before moving the furniture back in. I have seen a great paint colour in a friends' flat which I would love to use on my flat. However, the brand of paint she used is not available in Sydney as far as I know (the brand is called "Sherman Williams"). If I was to paint a small piece of wood and bring it back with me, do you think it is possible to have Dulux or Taubmans match it as close as they can with something from their range? I have heard of computer matching but I am not sure if it's as simple as me just turning up with a colour I like and they match it. Thanks in advance Debbie Rutherford Re: Matching Paint Colour 3Dec 27, 2008 5:55 pm As Joles has said, Haymes and the other paint comp's will match it for you.
The Dulux spectrometer will need a piece of the paint to be able to colour match. So maybe some paint in some glad wrap/dried, will help you there. We are just going to paint the place and I might replace a few cushions etc to spruce the house up. My intent is to later on start doing other things like retiling the kitchen and bathroom etc. We are also getting built in wardrobes installed after a few months. So...do you think it is ok that I am picking the wall paint out first and then matching everything to that as I go along? Or should I be considering the whole end result colour scheme/style first? Michelle, I noticed you do email consultations. Are you able to PM me (or email me at mrsrutherford@hotmail.com) and give me a few details as to what service you provide and approx what it costs? My husband is not willing to spend money on big reno's as we are saving for another house so I need to try and work around this by cheap alternatives (ie diy stuff). Is this something you are able to advise on? Thanks in advance Re: Matching Paint Colour 5Dec 28, 2008 7:48 am Get as much info as you can from the tin as well.
Type of paint, colour and if it is on there the tint details. Matching it from this information all helps the tinter - if they know what they are doing. And also have a look at porter paints. You might like their colour range as they use traditional paint making methods and can acheive a very different style of colours. http://www.porterspaints.com.au/ Steve Re: Matching Paint Colour 6Dec 28, 2008 2:50 pm Mrsrutherford……had a busy day I will get back to you about the email consult tomorrow, had a couple of drinkies with the neighbours, not sure I should get into work at this point.
