Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Dec 15, 2008 4:52 pm We are building a new home and were due to move in today 15/12. We chose boral antique grey bricks with anodised silver windows and woodland grey fascias, down pipes and garage door. We were very happy with the overall tonings. However our brickies did a really lousy job laying the bricks and our project builder have decided (less than a week before we were due to move in) that the only way we can fix this is to cement render at their expense. Our problem is we have no idea what colour to paint the cement render that will go with all the woodland grey. We don't want a light colour as it shows too much dirt and we don't want to make a "feature" of the down pipes etc. But we don't want the house to look too dark. Any ideas? Any help would be appreciated as this has been so stressful. We had given notice on our rental property expecting to move into our new home so at one stage last week we thought that we and our 3 kids would have no where to live two weeks before Christmas. Re: Cement render colour to go with woodland grey 2Dec 15, 2008 5:16 pm Ask your builder to foot the bill for a colour consultant to help pick the render colour…….since this issue was not yours to start with, this is the least he should do!
As you know I can give you colours, but will they be the best colours for you? Probably not! Your best bet is an onsite consultation, this is the only way to get it right ASAP for you. If you can provide me with a photo of your house I will try and help you, but grey is not an easy colour scheme to get right first time around on this forum. I feel sorry for you, 10 points to the builder for rendering at his cost, but make sure the job is done right, not a half way attempt to save his money. The whole thing has been too depressing so I haven't taken any photos for a while. I will take some tomorrow and post them. I had a colour consultant help me with the original choice so I will get in touch with her again. She knows the design of the house and all the features to work with; this is the best way to go. It takes me 20 minutes or less, to do this…..if I have been working with the house to start with. Good luck…..and hey, your nearly there!
