Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge Re: Xmas decorations….for the new home owners 21Dec 13, 2008 5:47 pm Not doing decorations this year.. a little sad because we thought we'd be in by now... Not the current builders fault, it was the previous builder who we didn't end up going with.
I bought a nice big tree in last yr's sales.. but it's going to have to wait until 2009 for its day in the spotlight! I’m not doing anything this year, the first time ever! I feel bad, but I don’t want all the decorations around while the house is for sale. Plus I don’t really feel very xmasy this year. That’s why I want to see everyone else’s We went through this exact dilemma last year Michelle. Our house went on the market the 2nd week of December. In the end we put up our Christmas tree and some small ornaments on a cabinet in the lounge room. We figured the house was likely to market to families with kids etc. So since it would have been obvious that our house had kids in it we figured we should have a tree displayed. We were careful though not to do too much. What a pain having to shift the larger xmas presents to the shed for the 2 solid weekends during house opens. ( at least we had started wrapping our pressies since we knew we'd have to move them around and didn't want the kids to see them) Perhaps you could do some thing like this again. It pays homage to the season without going over the top. I know you have the decorations "somewhere" or are they packed up already? No, they are all in the rafters in the shed! Due to the lack of interest, I don’t think I will bother. I’m still trying to come up with ways to get out of the house. I have just picked up a job from a builder who needs most of the work done by xmas…………. Typical! So that cancels most things out for me!
