Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Dec 01, 2008 10:57 pm Hi everyone, I got a big headache with external colours of the house. My colour appointment is coming soon, still no ideas.
I may choose "Amber Blaze"--an orange looking brick, and Barramundi or caper (is caper light grey?? or blue grey?)colour roof tiles. I also want white window frames. Can some one recommend me colours for the gutter, fascia, and garage door? Many..thanks!! pictures of the brick and house elevation. Do you want your guttering and fascia to stand out or blend in? Do you like them both to be the same colour or different? With your choices, here's my suggestions: Surfmist for fascia and guttering to match your windows. Ironstone, Woodland Grey or Monument for both to match the roof tiles. (depending on which you choose). Or Surfmist for the fascia and either Ironstone, Woodland Grey or Monument for the guttering to tie in with both the windows and roof. Or you could pick a completely different colour for a complete contrast. Depends what look you're going for. I'd personally go Surfmist fascia and a darker guttering cos I like the guttering and fascia to contrast with each other. Hope this helps. Jo By the way, white mortar would look stunning with those bricks and white windows! I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Thanks very much Jo. I like your idea about the gutter and fascia to contrast with each other. Based on your suggestion, my consideration is: roof tile: Caper gutter: Windspray (I have been told this is smilar colour to the caper roof tile, ture or not?) fascia: Surfmist window: White garage door: Surfmist What about downpipe? should be same colour as fascia or gutter?? Anyway, I'm still thinking.... more suggestions welcome Re: I need help for the external colours 5Dec 02, 2008 2:51 pm vicky,
With the downpipes, this is another thing everyone does differently. Some people like to match it to their brick, some use the fascia colour, some use the guttering colour. I personally like using the guttering colour... I quite like them when they stand out... Have a close look at the houses you see around... even if they're not your chosen colours... you can get a feel for what you like re: where to contrast... how strong you like the colours to be, etc, etc.. You'll see a pattern emerging in what you like and that will help you. I figured out early on that I like a strong window colour and a strong guttering and downpipe colour and a strong garage door colour. Then the colour of the brick and roof tiles helps to decide the colours to use. If you decide the look you're after.... then choose your brick and roof tile... the colours will emerge more clearly. External colours were very easy for me until they deleted my colourbond colour... then things got messy. Jo I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. With the garage door…..possibly think about Windspray for that, I think it will make a nicer statement to the front. Your post out the front Windspray as well. Down pipes – Windspray Let me know what you think. I like light colour for the garage. and I think I may choose "caper" roof tile, because I like light grey roof. I think about shale grey to be the gutter, fascia and garage door colour, how is that?? Re: I need help for the external colours 8Dec 02, 2008 8:50 pm Shale Grey will go well with your red brick.
