Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Nov 30, 2008 11:23 pm Hi Michelle (and all others reading!). I am in the process of finalising my colours for my first house and would love to hear any opinons/ideas you might have. I am not the best at imagining how things will look so I'm sort of crossing my fingers everything will look ok! I took photos of my colours at the appointment but my SD card was being weird and so none of them saved
I hope I've used the template properly, I added some things at the end if you have time to think about those too. As fun as the colour choosing is, it's also kinda exhausting and confusing!!! My thoughts for the house are that I would like it to feel warm and inviting and somewhere my friends can come and kick back comfortably. I'm also budget limited since it's just me, so I've tried to stick to the standard range where possible. Oh, and I'm building the Macquaire by DFH. I don't have a picture of my plan scanned yet but will get one soon. Main colours throughout Internals Ceiling /Cornice - Wattyl Flat White Walls - Wattyl Stone White Skirting / Architrave - Wattyl Soft Blush Doors - Wattyl Soft Blush Window Treatments - Probably sheets for quite a while! Garage door is Paperbark slimline sectional door Other things I would love opinions on if anyone made it this far!: Kitchen: Splashback - Wattyl Calico Blue (I love navy blue and this was the only thing I was set on having in the kitchen) Benchtop - Caesarstone Cashmere (2370) Cupboards - Parbury Pearl Bisque (kicker the same) Ensuite: Tiles - Kingress Sellini Chocolate 400 x 400 floor tiles with Pilbara Latte 400x400 on shower wall Benchtop - Wilsonart Evening Tigris Cupboards - Pearl Bisque Main Bathroom: Pilbara Latte 400x400 on floor and shower wall with Kingress Sellini Chocolate 400 x 400 around bath hub Benchtop - Wilsonart Evening Tigris Cupboards - Parbury Slate Grey Bedrooms: Sliding wardrobe doors - White birch frame with Argean Chalk doors. Any opinions are welcomed! My memory tells me that it all looked ok together in the colour appt but then my memory is also trying to tell me everything was too yellow/pink/completely wrong hehehe. You will have to wait for someone else to have a sensible comment for you Re: A newbie seeking colour help! 3Dec 01, 2008 12:47 pm hehehe when i first saw the topic heading...i was like "when did i ask for colour help?" hehehehe
Sorry, I'm hopeless at colours too...i chose all browns and whites..hehe Re: A newbie seeking colour help! 4Dec 01, 2008 2:22 pm Heheh sorry to confuse you Newbies, I've changed the title! That's what happens when I stay up too late reading homeone and get tired and don't think hehe.
Glad to hear sheets are in this season Helyn Luckily most of my street will be newly constructed so I'd say my windows will fit right in! Edited to add: Newbies I'm with you on the browns and whites, if I hadn't fallen in love with having a navy splashback I would have just had browns and whites too Re: A newbie seeking colour help! 5Dec 01, 2008 2:37 pm hey there, thats alrite! hehehe...I should have thought my name through when I first signed up...cos I'm not really a newbie anymore...hehehe...
Everyone asks me what my colour choices are...and i'm like...neutral colours hehehe pretty boring Re: A newbie seeking colour help! 6Dec 01, 2008 4:42 pm Well first up, congats on building for yourself Dark Angel, there’s nothing more I like to hear and see than another woman taking care of herself the best way she can!
Well done! Ok…interior, happy with your selections, I love the Wild Fig, that’s a deepish green is that right? Very Nice. Exterior – good also. In fact I think you have done a nice job at putting all your colours together. Good luck in your new home, and I wish you all the very best! Yep Wild Fig is an olive colour which I finally decided on. Originally I had picked a dark blue/violet colour but then wasn't happy with that (was the last colour to pick in my appt and I was a bit coloured-out lol!). Then I picked Tivo but it kept looking too grey or something and Wild Fig was next to it on the chart so picked that! I painted it on a canvas on the weekend to check and I am happy with it so phew
And thank you for the congrats! It's all very exciting and scary but I'm a pretty indepenent girly so I was ready to take the leap lol. Thank goodness for homeone though, I would be rather lost without having this place as a reference the last few months Re: A newbie seeking colour help! 8Dec 01, 2008 9:16 pm Well you ask as many questions on Homeone as you need to.
There will always be someone here to answer them for you! Oh, and by the way, we like photos…..so make sure you post some as you progress.
