In a week's time we will take ownership of our new house (not a brand new house). We are having the house painted (by a painter) immediately. I managed to get access to the house and took an interior designer there to help me choose a paint colour - but now I am panicking about what she recommended (I emailed her with follow up questions but she was not so helpful!). The issue is I need to tell the painter the colours this week - and I will not get access to the house again until after settlement.
She suggested I paint the entire house Dulux Scallywag (full strength - low sheen). I did want a creamy/taupe neutral scheme, however I worry this colour looks a bit yellowish at times and other times I think it looks too brown.
Also she said to paint all the doors and trim Scallywag (full strength - semi gloss). The woodwork in the house is not particularly fancy so I agree with not having it stand out - but I am worried painting the walls and woodwork all the one colour will look weird. She said the wood will look lighter in colour as it is a glossier paint - however I am not sure. Should I paint the wood half strength?
She suggested quarter strength of the same colour for the ceiling - which makes sense as the ceilings are high.
So my questions are:
* opinions on Dulux Scallywag as a colour
* opinions of painting walls and all woodwork the same colour.
It is so hard to know what to do - would be easier if I could get access to the house again - but I can't!
Thanks for any help people can give.
