Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge Re: Window furnishings...Quote 21Nov 26, 2008 6:09 pm Mrs B, good luck with your quote but if it turns out to be too expensive, ask the Luxaflex lady about their cheaper products. I got a quote for their aluminium venetials but was also getting some other quotes, and the Luxaflex lady, wanting to be competitive, mentioned there was a product not made in Australia, but still Luxaflex, with pre-set controls on the right hand side, quite a bit cheaper than their standard blinds - which is what I got in the end. They are just fine (they were still made to measure, just overseas).
My first quote was for Luxaflex dual blinds, I think we have 16 windows, it was around 9k. P. S. How's the kitchen coming along? (And the rest of it?) Re: Window furnishings...Quote 22Nov 26, 2008 7:59 pm We have about 15 windows that we are looking to put Luxaflex dual roller blinds on and 2 sliding doors, I'm relieved after reading your quote was around 9k Dy, we have budgeted about $15k for window furnisings and I thought that we would go way over with the Luxaflex rollers
Sorry to hijack Mrs B My karma ran over your dogma Re: Window furnishings...Quote 23Nov 27, 2008 9:57 pm Ok guys......Quote is in
OMG I knew these curtains were expensive but honestly who on earth can afford them I dont even want to tell you the final price but lets just say I could take my family of 5 to an overseas trip for 5 weeks for the price of these curtains...20% off as well So what I did is delete (compromise ) the non important windows and kept the most important ones. Just to give you some idea Stackers (3 doors) $1850 3 Large windows $2598 Theatre $1282 Romans...silk range 3 long windows in bathroom $1735 Just some of the prices so you can see how expensive a whole house will be. I am going to cut back alot as I had even the laundry sliders in this duette. The windows I dont have in duette I will do a roller blind in similiar material. Anyway, not disheartened as I will have all the main windows done which was number 1 priority. I'll post pics as soon as they are all up. Do you want to wait for pelmets . Ours cost over 9k for four rooms . You post those pictures asap! You know I have been waiting to see your beautiful curtains for ages now. 9K dosent surprise me at all...why are window furnishings so expensive but so worth it if you get exactly what you want Mrs B Re: Window furnishings...Quote 29Nov 28, 2008 10:04 pm kyton Mrs B - do you have sizing for your stacker door? Would be interesting to see how much approx my two lots of bifolding doors would be. Hi Kyton I'll find out tomorrow the length of my stackers ...I have x4 in the house so it is very expensive. Hi Donuts The roller blinds will look nice to but it wasnt really the look I was after. Dosent matter though in the big scheme of things Mrs B Re: Window furnishings...Quote 30Nov 28, 2008 10:29 pm ours came through today... all except DDs which had to be returned as they were the wrong size.
Makes a big difference to the accoustics to have the roller blinds in the family/kitchen area. Makes it much more intimate. We chose a textured weave roller blind in a grey colour ... matches the kitchen cupboards but hope we don't get sick of them like Michelle's friend . Front bedrooms + upstairs look great minus pelmets. The dark grey sheers look black from outside ... its quite a contrast with the off white block out. Sounds horrible but we love it. Pics posted tomorrow maybe in our thread. Re: Window furnishings...Quote 31Nov 29, 2008 10:00 am Hi Mrs B
Just found this! Sorry to hear about your window furnishing dramas!!! It's so hard, isn't it??! I love the Luxaflex, they're just beautiful! I was blown away a bit when I started getting blinds quotes, too. We have about 40 widows !!!!!!! Also, my DH got very involved......... I thought I'd just pick what I wanted, but he was quite definite about what he wanted (the nerve!!!!!!! ) So, I didn't get free rein.... Luckily (?) he also has a knack for picking the most expensive fabric/type, etc...so he can't blame me !!!!! I'm so nervous about seeing our blinds in - they go in on 12th Dec, so not far away....I hope they look ok!!!! Actually, no, I hope they look fantastic!!!!!!!! Fingers crossed!!! Hope you can get other blinds for the 'less essential' windows that you're really happy with! My DH also got involved in picking the curtains. Can't understand it myself. He wasn't interested in much else (except the thermal qualities, accoustics and how much wood was holding up the house ) Gotta love 'em. Re: Window furnishings...Quote 34Nov 29, 2008 4:48 pm petal  I know Dy!!!!!!!! (insert 'indignant' smiley here !) He was pretty insistant, too........ pests Re: Window furnishings...Quote 35Nov 29, 2008 7:29 pm Back with some measurements...I hope this helps
Stackers 2400x2600 $1822 (one blind) or $1877 (3 smaller blinds, still sit nicely) Window 1200x2400 x2 $1700 Large window with 3 frames so there would be 3 duettes 4200x2400 $2816 Roman Blinds with Silk material Bathroom $515 (just a nice size window) So, what I have done is ask her to quote all the windows with roller blinds using similar material eg I like the transculent look...light comes in but you cant really see in. Hopefully with the mixture of duettes and rollers it will look really nice. Also, dont forget these prices are supposedly 20% off and gst included. Very interesting news Just got a quote from the luxaflex lady for all windows to be roller blinds with material from the 'bamboo' range. Really nice fabric that has more of a textured look to it. Total price for the whole house (49sq) .........$13,900 Compared to Duettes.......29k Even if I do half and half, it still comes to 18k and I cant see the value to tell you the truth. To give you some indication of the price difference.... Roller ............. Duette Stacker doors... $715 ........ $1887 Theatre Room.... $622 ........ $1282 3 big Windows..... $1317 ....... $$2598 As you can see a very large difference, almost 60% more. Mr B is now a very happy husband Mrs B Re: Window furnishings...Quote 40Dec 12, 2008 7:54 pm Thanks for keeping us updated Mrs B - I am very excited by your news as we want Luxaflex roller blinds throughout our new home (41 squares) and I have budgeted about $15,000 so it looks like I could be ok
Are these the dual roller blinds or single? The fabric sounds gorgeous! Do you have a pic!
