Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Nov 18, 2008 2:39 pm Hello, I have chosen a brick called Pearl grey (PGH brick) an am keen on the following, whitish/blueish/greyish like colours but am having an extremely hard time trying to visualise what colour to have everything. I have my colour appointment this coming Monday and am getting quite stressed, however the colour consultant sauggested the following and I would extremely appreciate any advice from people.
Roof tile: Barramundi Tudor style Gutter: Woodland grey Fascia: Surfmist Then the suggestion was to have the garage door and window either match the gutter (woodland grey) or the fascia (surfmist), but I am unsure of what to choose for the latter, whether the grey would be too dark for all the windows??? Or should I have the front door in the woodland grey and the windows in the surfmist?? Thanks and sorry I am not too sure as to how to upload photos/pictures of the above products. Re: External colour help required please 2Nov 18, 2008 2:45 pm The Woodland Grey is very dark... and the Surfmist very light.
I'd do the windows white to match the Surfmist and the front door and garage Woodland grey. Or.... I'd replace the Surfmist with Dune, do the windows and front door Woodland Grey and do the Garage door Dune. Depends on if you want light or dark windows internally. While the Surfmist looks great on garages, just be aware it will show up dirt very easily. Jo I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Will bring it to the consultants attention. I have a really silly question, what did you mean in regards to the light or dark windows inside??(I am so embarassed to have to type that ) Re: External colour help required please 4Nov 18, 2008 3:11 pm Because you will see the window frame in the house.
Woodland Grey has a greenish/brown tinge... I didn't want that with my charcoal, grey and white interior. Whereas it may be perfect for you!!! The window frame colour actually becomes an interior colour to a certain extent so that is another thing to think about. I will have monument (almost black) windows because I love charcoals and blacks and I like the contrast against crisp white walls. Whereas Rachelle is using the same brick as me but loves white windows and it suits her interior.... sorry to confuse you more.... Jo I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Terrence Malick Re: External colour help required please 5Nov 18, 2008 3:18 pm Oh and there are no silly questions Tillie....
When I started I knew nothing... still don't know much! The only way to find out is to ask! I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Terrence Malick Re: External colour help required please 6Nov 18, 2008 3:24 pm Thankyou very much for your advice.. Now I am really confused
I was hoping to have my interior a slightly off white walls, brown/coffee coloured carpet and some kind of similar tile through out the house. If i was to choose to have the Dune windows and then the front door and garage door in the woodland grey, what are your thoughts on that?? Thanks, Tillie Re: External colour help required please 7Nov 18, 2008 3:30 pm If you're having brown/coffe colours the Woodland grey or the Dune would go....
Umm you shouldn't be listening to me... I'm crap at externals!!!! Wait til someone that knows what they are talking about comes and can help you!!! Do you know if your Window company makes Dune windows?... Lots in Melbourne don't . With your internal colours I think white, Dune or Woodland Grey would go! But everyone here will tell you that once it gets into coffee/brown colours I'm lost. I'm a black and grey girl! Michelle said she'll be on tonight so I'm sure she'll have lots of advice! Jo I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Terrence Malick Re: External colour help required please 8Nov 18, 2008 3:36 pm Thanks heaps again, you are well and trully ahead of me... I have nil colour style or even fashion sense for that matter...
And you are right, the windows do not come in Dune... There is paperbark/merino though??? This is a nightmare Tillie Re: External colour help required please 9Nov 18, 2008 6:36 pm I’ll try and later for you Tillie, I’m a bit busy at the moment. It’s a colour that complements all other colours, without looking washed out. I am not a big fan of Surfmist and Shale Grey too me they are too light. I have tried to change some of the colours and would appreciate your opinion on the following:
Roof tiles: Tudor style, Barramundi colour Gutter: Dune Fascia: Woodland grey Brick: Pearl grey, with off white mortar Windows: Either Paperbark or White birch (not too sure which one) Garage door: Woodland grey Front door: Woodland grey with sidelight frames in the woodland grey also Only a few more sleeps til colours need to be in, I cannot believe how difficult this has been Tillie Re: External colour help required please 12Nov 20, 2008 9:03 am Hi not Michelle, Jo again.
I think that will all look great. But I would definitely go with the white windows. They'll fit in with the off white mortar. The Paperbark won't go with anything else and it may be one colour too many. Also because all your other selections are quite muted, the Paperbark may look quite yellowish. Jo Disclaimer: Wait til Michelle gets here. She knows more than me. I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Terrence Malick Re: External colour help required please 13Nov 20, 2008 9:26 am I agree with Jo, I'd stay away from the paperbark, too many colours.
White will be nice, will you have white eaves? That will tie it back in nicely. What colour downpipes? I'd say Dune. All these decisions are stressful aren't they! Re: External colour help required please 14Nov 20, 2008 10:47 am I think your colours sound good Tillie.
I have to disagree with the Paperbark windows comments though, I have it and it goes PERFECTLY with off white mortar. But, for you I'd go white. Re: External colour help required please 15Nov 20, 2008 10:55 am donuts I think your colours sound good Tillie. I have to disagree with the Paperbark windows comments though, I have it and it goes PERFECTLY with off white mortar. But, for you I'd go white. But that's cos you only have Woodland Grey donuts. Tillie will have Woodland Grey and Dune already.... so the Paperbark will probably be too much. And Paperbark does clash a bit with Dune in my opinion... one or the other. I am glad to see that I may have a "little" bit of colour sense, seeing that the colours that I chose were not too far off what has been suggested Thanks again to you all, as I am not so worried about Monday... Bring on the colour consultation... Tillie Re: External colour help required please 19Nov 20, 2008 9:08 pm Tillie Bring on the colour consultation... SEE…..we’re not so scary! Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com Minimum overhang into gutter must be 50mm, turn down tool should not split the sheet. it seems wrong tool for the profile was used, the flashing cannot slope back. Rib… 2 1046 Thankyou so much 😀 I've decided on White on white for doors and trims, White on white 50% on ceiling and Mt buller for walls. Fingers crossed it will look OK 😀 2 3618 Thank you @.
