The render guy is coming this week so thought I would review the colors that we chose. Our colors were chosen back in June 07 so a bit hazy on what they where so picked up a color chart from Bunnings this morning and was a bit shocked to see that the main house render which is supposed to be in Slate is a light grey not a beige like I thought. The portico is supposed to be done in Koorangang which I can't find on any color chart. My roof is colorbond Dune which I thought was a cream type color but on the color chart it also a grey color ( you think I would have noticed since its been sitting there for 8months!) so I now have my knickers in a knot whether to go with these colors or change my mind and go with beige type colors like I thought I was having. Do you think this would go with the roof color? The windows are cedar and the gargage door is going to be cedar look as well. Would appreciate all opinions as have no idea about colors or computers to try the colors myself (its taken me 2 hrs to try to attach the photo!!) To change the color is no drama as we were building with Marshall Baker Homes which went into voluntary liquidation and are completing the build as an owner builder so can do whatever I want really so would love any feedback. Thanks so much will look forward to hearing what you all think. The whole of your house is being rendered? What coloured garage doors have you chosen? The rest is looking fine. I was thinking the same thing d@n! I actually love the brick and think it looks great! I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Terrence Malick Re: Desperately seeking help with render colors 5Nov 15, 2008 8:49 pm I agree, love the brickwork. The whole front of the house was supposed to be rendered in Slate and the portico in Kooragang which I believe are Wattyl colors. The brick work up close is quite bad, we had 3 different groups of brickies and you can tell exactly where each group has started and finished, was hoping the render would hide the ******* brick work, otherwise would probably have taken up the suggestion of just doing the portico. Micheele, the garage door is one of those cedar look ones. Thanks heaps for the opinions What a shame. 8Nov 15, 2008 10:01 pm It is such a shame that you have to cover these bricks up as i also love them. Are they a Chocolate Brown colour like the photo portrays? Re: Desperately seeking help with render colors 9Nov 15, 2008 10:09 pm Judie,
Am liking the crust, its more of the color I was thinking for the front. Not so sure about the light color for the potico was thinking going a shade darker , what do you think? How do you guys do this, its fantastic. Thanks for the opinions its great. Re: Desperately seeking help with render colors 10Nov 16, 2008 8:22 am Judie, great job!!!!!!
But yes, I think the lighter colour should be a shade or two darker, so there’s not so much contrast between the two colours. Maurita, the bricks are Newport by Austral with light and bright mortar. They are all browns but they do look a bit lighter once they have been cleaned. The front didn't get cleaned as we are going to render it. They are really nice bricks though. Was looking at Dee Elle's blog and her house has the Dune roof as well. She has used Dune and Jasper for her render colors and I think they look great. If anyone has the skills and the time would love to see what they would look like on our place. I think the Dune for the front with Jasper on the portico but wouldn't you know it DH thinks the opposite. What do you guys think? Cheers Leanne Re: Desperately seeking help with render colors 13Nov 16, 2008 9:01 am Laldous….I understand what you’re saying.
BUT, I try to stay away from what other people have used, so everyone has their own unique look and colours. I’d hate to see a forum full of the same colours as each other. Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com Re: Desperately seeking help with render colors 15Nov 16, 2008 9:13 am I think it's a completely different type of house to DeeElle's, I don't think it will look too similar.
Maybe one of the photshop gurus can give it a go both ways to see which one works. I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Terrence Malick Re: Desperately seeking help with render colors 19Nov 16, 2008 11:19 am Ooohhh, I like them both! (of course it's not my house so it doesn't really matter what I like... )
Good job d@n! I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Terrence Malick Re: Desperately seeking help with render colors 20Nov 16, 2008 11:31 am Fantastic D@n, I love them both so that brings about the delima about which way to go. DH likes the Jasper for the front and the Dune in the portico. Mmmm what to do? Thanks so much for all your help I really appreciate it.
