Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com Wow, what a house!!!!! 31Nov 15, 2008 10:46 am I like your second choice the best with the Dune & Monument. This house is simply stunning. What made you decide on such a design for a home? It totally interests me on how people come up with these ideas and put them all together to make a house/home.
I can't wait to see it finished. Re: Wow, what a house!!!!! 32Nov 15, 2008 12:19 pm maurita What made you decide on such a design for a home? It totally interests me on how people come up with these ideas and put them all together to make a house/home. The designer? No, not just him. Our design was influenced a lot by our site and by what we liked. DH inherited a large block from his father. Initially we thought about building in the most sensible spot down near the road...but I wanted more sun, so I convinced DH to think about building just a little higher, and then just a bit higher , and then just a bit more until we ended up 120m from the road and in the 'old quarry' (a small existing cut and fill site). So then of course we thought about what to do with the rest of the land and how we could afford the driveway etc, so we decided to subdivide. I decided on a passive solar design after getting some information from the Home Ideas centre..took DH a little to be convinced. So then we started looking at designers. We found our designer on a sustainable homes tour which we went on in 2006. His were the only houses that we really loved. And all his clients were really happy with his work and their homes. He is an ex-builder too, so is not as impractical as some architects can be. So after lots of delays with the subdivision, we started our design process with him about a year ago now. After lots of consultation, he came up with this design, which he presented to us in March...I don't think we changed much at all, because there had been so much communication during the design process. Sorry, that was a very long winded response to a simple question, but I suppose it has been a long road to get to this point...and with still a long road in front of us maurita I can't wait to see it finished. Neither can we *sigh* 'chelle We have a hand-over date...15/10...but I won't hold my breath! http://people-in-glass-houses.blogspot.com/ Hi, we live in an area where the black soil is prone to a lot of movement.
