I think we've found a place for our antique hall table http://i273.photobucket.com/albums/jj229/DeeElle66/P1010322_edited-2.jpg upstairs + pelmets next week maybe . Re: Final touches - curtains and walls 45Nov 30, 2008 8:29 pm It all looks fantastic Dy, and I especially love your hall table - just beautiful!
It sounds like your not overly happy with the feature wall in your bedroom and I think if it's a 'feature' wall you have to walk in your room & think to yourself 'I love it', if this isn't happening you will need to get DH to redo .....I'm sure he'll be impressed...... Best wait until after Xmas to mention it, or I might not get anything . Thanks for the feedback. House was so untidy this morning I was trying to dodge obvious mess in the pics lol. Much better this pm . Re: Final touches - curtains and walls 48Dec 01, 2008 7:44 am Lovely sheers Dee. I've made a copy of your picture to show DH. I think I want black sheers in our bedroom now. Re: Final touches - curtains and walls 49Dec 01, 2008 9:36 pm thanks for the feedback .
The sheers are charcoal and the blockout is off white .. perhaps ivory .. . Makes a huge difference to the house ... we feel like we are living in a home instead of a vacuum. Can't wait for the rest of the curtains. We have a fair bit of furniture in the garage .. waiting for the curtains to see what we should add to the house. Not sure what we will do with the rest ... probably ebay . Re: Final touches - curtains and walls 51Dec 02, 2008 8:49 am I never knew you could get charcoal sheers but they look stunning DeeElle! Another idea to add to my wishlist of things to add to my house in the future Re: Final touches - curtains and walls 53Mar 09, 2013 4:59 pm Gosh just looked back at this. After 4 years a couple of hints: go with the hard poly finish on the boards. We changed to a more modern acrylic finish after some water damage on the lower level and the boards look like crap (disintegrating finish) while the stairs still look fabulous. For all they are beautiful, I'd probably go tiles next time. The trouble we've had with these boards is ridiculous. Paint: yep, ready to do it again and I never did change that bedroom feature wall. Hated it for 4 years. I've weighed up wallpaper but don't like the idea of peeling it off if I change my mind. Big windows: remember you have to cover them if you don't want to boil in summer and freeze in winter. Curtains help sell your home and add lots to the aesthetics of the room. Carpet: get the best quality you can afford. Furniture: bleh, the least of your problems. Go for the best finish you can afford.
