Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Oct 21, 2008 7:39 pm Hi it's Bec. Please help. Richard is on my case about finishing the formal living / dining room so he can post photos on this forum. I'm delaying him as I can't find lamps and other things specifically for the two side tables (oh and a piece of artwork could help too). The room looks a little bland and I'm tired of dragging my kids around shops to no avail.

I have no idea what to suggest - but just wanted to ask what you are doing with the (gorgeous!) baby photos sitting up on that table against the wall? Are they staying there, or will they go up on the wall, or are they just there temporarily? Re: Need help with lamps n stuff 4Oct 21, 2008 8:22 pm donuts It's such a stunning room ! Are they staying there, or will they go up on the wall, or are they just there temporarily? Hi Donuts - not sure where I'm going to put the baby photos but do plan to put them on a wall somewhere. I'm holding off hanging wall pictures until I find lamps. This room doesn't photograph well, the wall colour looks different in life. For the wall that is directly opposite the french doors I would put some wall art......I think that always creates a wow factor when you enter the room... I am not sure what sort of images you like but I have picked this one (although not the best image) to go with your curtains and cushions and it also picks up the colours of your furniutre. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ I would then add a pendant light above your dining table to draw you eye up and toward the back of the room. This is one I have found that looks nice up. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ and for maximum impact of that pendant light I would add a nice wall mirror....something like this one but hung horizontally and painted in the crisp white to match the white paint you have on your walls. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ I would also consider a side table where your plant is and a nice light to go on top. I am not sure if this is the sort of info you are after but these were all my initial thoughts when I studied your photos and like I said the room looks beautiful regardless. Another consideration for your wall art is to get a copy of your image on your cushions and make that into a canvas. Re: Need help with lamps n stuff 6Oct 21, 2008 9:39 pm I have run out of time, very caught up tonight.
I can’t wait to play with this beautiful room!!!! I agree with your suggestion to put the wall art opposite the French door. Your image is a little small - is that a photo or painting? I was thinking of some sort of contemporary painting maybe. But can’t find anything.
Not sure about copying the curtain & cushion image onto the wall as I’m concerned it may all be a little too “tweak” if you know what I mean. Love your suggestion of a mirror – hadn’t thought of that. The furniture is about 7 years old – I bought it for a previous home. It’s Jimmy Possum (JP) and I’m not sure if they still sell it. (I like furniture to match). I’ll have a look in JP to see if they still sell the side table. Great idea about adding a light above the table to draw the eye but DH may hit the roof at the suggestion. I’ll have a look around for some 'Drama' to sit on the table instead. Thanks again for your comments – you’ve been a great help. I’d really like to put some lamps in as I prefer soft lighting. Anybody seen any nice lamps? Can't find a picture of it though. It was either at Lightstyle or Beacon Lighting at the Belrose Supacenta.

I actually recognise some of these fabrics from endless visits to fabric houses!! Thanks for the suggestion but I'm ridiculously fussy when it comes to fabric. If I was going to go this way I'd prefer to pick the fabric myself. At this early stage I'd like to find a painting. Arrrh, this is why I would be a hopeless interior decorator - once I get something in my head, I'm rarely willing to change or compromise - I'm very narrow visioned. But here is a great link to get a feel for the sort of image you might like then you can start hunting. Also remember there are plenty of canvas art websites that offer the service of adding any image to a canvas. So if you see something you like keep the picture and chase up one of these places, you then get to customise the size. Good luck with this next part...............Tell DH, not to rush you we completely understand if you want us to wait for the photos. http://www.theartgallery.com.au/Categories.html Re: Need help with lamps n stuff 14Oct 22, 2008 9:12 am Hi Bec,
Great looking room so far, anything you add will certainly only enhance an already fantastic room. Here are some paintings by an artist called PINO. I like most of his work, some paintings are a little over-the-top (the ones of ladies on their own...) but I really love the ones painted with children. Thanks Clarity, While I think the colours of these paintings would work they aren't really my style. I was hoping for something more contemporary and fresh (similar style as the curtain material). I recently saw a lovely painting that would work perfectly. The only problem was it was in RED! If only the artist did it in blue too! It's hard enough finding the perfect piece of artwork - let alone finding it in the right colour! Thanks everyone for the comments and advice. At least Richard is happy that some photos were finally posted. It was reasonably priced... $100 to $200...if your interested I could try and get the artists name. Or there may be someone local to you.
If you are searching ebay you might want to limit it too an Australian search. mmm....donuts Homer Simpson 1956- Links: Site Costs Ready Reckoner | H1 Addiction Medical Advice | Château TDL: The Backyard Re: Need help with lamps n stuff 18Oct 22, 2008 10:36 pm Adrian B mentioned this in a previous topic...
