Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Oct 21, 2008 12:31 pm Hi,
I'm trying to decide on the colour for my blueboard-covered fence. I have Wattyl Slate-coloured rendered retaining walls nearby (to be painted this weekend) and the pavers on the ground are similar in colour to the Wattyl Slate as well. The mulch near the fence will be that dark pine bark with Lucky stones interspersed. I'll be putting various plants (Liriope muscari and the variegated variety, mother-in-law's tongues and native frangipani trees) in front of the wall. Other colours on my house include Dune and Jasper and I have a blackbutt deck nearby. I don't want to make the area too dark either so I was wondering what suggestions people might have? I've been playing around with Bushland Grey and Surfmist although Surfmist is a bit light. Thanks, Jamie Re: Colour for exterior blueboard fence? 2Oct 21, 2008 9:29 pm I’m very sorry….I have been really busy tonight!
I hope to get to your question tomorrow. Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com Re: Colour for exterior blueboard fence? 4Oct 22, 2008 8:52 am Hi Southies,
The landscaping is a little slow but it's progressing. Since the last set of photos, council made us install some extra termite protection for the deck and now the deck is complete. The landscapers have also been doing lots of little bits and pieces like rendering, cutting the driveway concrete, putting paverlock between the pavers, installing irrigation, waterproofing the retaining walls and water feature, installing stacked stone, running conduit for lighting The neighbours beside us have just started building with Clarendon and we've just realised we need a larger retaining wall because their slab is a bit higher than the plans we received indicate. Clarendon's trades take no care either - their surveyor ripped a few branches off one of our trees (about 15m on our side of the boundary) and their stormwater guy crushed some of our irrigation lines. I can't wait to see what the brickies do. I took some more photos a few days ago but they look crap (taken at sunset) so I'll take some more once we paint the rendered walls this weekend (weather permitting). Cheers, Jamie Re: Colour for exterior blueboard fence? 6Oct 22, 2008 12:01 pm How big/long is the fence?
Is it really obvious? Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com Re: Colour for exterior blueboard fence? 7Oct 22, 2008 12:33 pm It's to the left and right of my alfresco deck. It's about 10m long to the left and about 6m long to the right. The idea is to provide some sort of nice background to the plants in front of it. The fence will be seen from my living areas.

All those colours are very nice. It's a race between Woohringa and Bull Kelp with Bull Kelp ahead at the moment. Once the fence is done, I'll try to post some pics. We went for "Reptile" but we'll need a coat of colour sealer because the colour has started to fade. The landscaper is coming back early next year to do the job. Reptile is a so-so match for Jasper. I'd prefer a slightly darker colour but we had to make the decision before we had the rest of the landscaping done. Very nice indeed. Thank you It's just a smaller besser block wall with steel lattice between the stacked stone wall and the smaller wall, covered with lucky stone pebbles. The stacked stone is a water feature and the water goes through the pebbles to the reservoir underneath (where the pump is). The pebbles also serve to stop mozzies and little children from getting to the water reservoir. It'll look better when the deck and the timber slats are finished off whenever the sander can make it to my job. Alfred from Mirage Landscaping is a stickler for doing everything properly and taking his time. Everywhere his work meets the builder's work (decks against brickwork, stacked stone over brickwork) shows up how lax the builder's work was because Alfred's work is absolutely dead level when it has to be. When he put the stacked stone on, he deliberately cut it at different lengths so it was more difficult to find the joins.
