Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge Re: Fish Tanks 22Oct 21, 2008 12:34 pm We thought of this also.. just incase I got sick of the fish tank. You would just be able to remove the architrave(its only there for decoration really) and then put new plasterboard up, then obviously repaint!
The tank stand was built into the floor(concrete) but you could easily just leave a small gap on which the edge of the fish tank sits out into the wall. Does that make sence? The tank then is not supported by the wall at all. So it would be easier to remove when the time comes. I would love to do this again in our new place but there is really nowhere for it to go.This time we have to go with a modified version of a standard plan. The house that we sold with the tank in it was designed by me then the draftsmen drew it up for us then taken to builders.(custom built) Built a modified "Daydream 279" .. Access is from the bathroom... just in case of water spills Just make sure that when you having a shower....You close the sliding doors!!!!!!! We got a friends daughter(14) a beauty one day..she had finished her shower(with doors closed) then as she went into the family room without her knowing I quickly opened the sliding doors You should have seen her face when she thought that us and all our visitirs saw her Built a modified "Daydream 279" .. The first house (15yrs ago) was built into a brick wall in the entry(4ft) This one was 6ft, 16 inches deep and 80cms high! Lookes better in real life!!! Built a modified "Daydream 279" .. Re: Fish Tanks 28Oct 26, 2008 12:21 pm M!ssy I_BUILD I luv my fish and I have a big 6 foot tank but one day I want to do something like in that first pic but much bigger between the lounge and the kitchen. I just luv the idea. M!ssy, what fish are you planning on keeping because not all fish will be suitable for the wall mounted tanks. I'd like to keep marine fish, maybe not coral this time, as its way to time consuming. Will have to see if the filter can handle salt water. Marine tanks without corals is not worth having in my opinion. Freshwater tropicals would be an easier option such as Chichlids and there are some beutiful coloured Cichlids and they are very interestin fish to watch. Re: Fish Tanks 30Oct 26, 2008 12:31 pm I_BUILD d@n fish tanks are for the 70's. better left in the past. Wow you obviously dont know what your talking about Yes, it depends if you know what your doing.. I have seen some pretty crappy ones.. And some REALLY nice tanks.. I dont think it has anything to do with "are for the 70's". I think it can be more of a hobbie type thing too.. Some people have dogs as pets, some people have fish etc... As long as it doesnt turn into some sort of addiction.. First time home owner and first time renovator... So is Mission Brown (Chocolate) and Lime Green (insert modern name) but there back in popularity...done well I think fish tanks are fine...better than collecting dog cr*p or piffing kitty litter! mmm....donuts Homer Simpson 1956- Links: Site Costs Ready Reckoner | H1 Addiction Medical Advice | Château TDL: The Backyard Thanks for letting us know.
