Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Oct 16, 2008 2:18 pm We are building our dream home, got through all the color selection and what not, now we are slowly seeing things go together, so far we are happy with our selection.
But a bit stuck when it comes to what color furniture & Curtains to match our colors! So any help would be greatly appreciated. We have light green color walls (olvine i think its called), and medium brown cupboard, light gray bench top, white wall tiles (with a few glass features and a pebble entry) and a darker brown floor tile (in the light its more a medium brown i think) and brown carpet through-out (does that color scheme seem like it goes together firstly?). We are wanting to know what color furniture and curtains to match, was thinking lighter colors to bring out the color in the tiles? Down the track planning to do a few feature walls, because we have gone quite neutral with our inside color selection, we were thinking of something a bit bold and or brighter, have no ideas what colors could go with our color scheme. Any suggestions?? Re: Furniture & Curtains & Feature walls 2Oct 16, 2008 4:21 pm It sounds good, sort of like a rainforest style (if that makes sense) with all the browns and green.
Here is what I did with brown and green for a project at tafe....there are a few drawings that are rendered with pen and pencil so the colours are not exact. anyway I think you could go with light coloured furniture and use darker colours for accessorizing. Most of the furniture I used in my tafe project was from Beyond Furniture and a few designer pieces from Space Furniture. Oh yeah, I know the colours you used are probably nothing like the ones I used in the project but thought it may be able to give you an idea of what browns and greens can do. (hope this all makes sense). We have the same wall colour - Olivine! Our interior will be in shades of brown, olive green and beige, but our floor tiles looks like exposed aggregate in beige (with speckles of olive and brown)... so opposite to your dark floor tiles. \because you have dark floor tiles, i would probably go for a lighter-coloured furniture. our furnitures are darker (because we have lighter floor tiles). ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Built the Nevada 42 Next project - landscaping! It’s very hard to give you thoughts on the curtains. Some rooms may need less of a formal look to others. Off the top of my head I would either go a shade or to lighter than your wall colour or neutral beige colour so they stand out. Again this will also depend on the fabric and style of your curtains. I find curtains a very personal choice for people. As for furniture, I would tend to go light, to keep in the light fresh feel you are having in your home. Hope this has a little.
