Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Oct 16, 2008 9:01 am Hi,
I'm interested anyones opinion. Does dark grey floor tiles go well with dark grey/black kitchen benchtop? or would lighter grey floor tiles suit better? We're going with a grey carpet as well with white walls throughout the house. Re: Kitchen benchtop/floor tiles 2Oct 16, 2008 9:30 am I need a bit more info……what colour will your cupboards be? Dark tiles and dark laminates…….show marks. So you need to decide which one is going to be your mark catcher. Bench or floors? I would go with - Floors – Dark Grey Cupboards – White Benchtop – Mid grey This way you have varying greys on either side of the white. If i chose a light tile with grey splashes through it, How would that go? You need to go to the tile and carpet shops. Get samples of everything!!!!! Take it all home and play with for a couple of days. Then you should know which way to go. When using darker colours, no matter what colour it is, they show finger marks and day to day grim marks. I have a really DEEP grey benchtop, nearly black, it shows everything!!! Michelle is absolutely right in that everything shows if you have dark colours - fingerprints, dust, fluff on carpet, etc. That said, I still would have gone with the same colours as I'm not a brown/cream person. In my house, I've added a bit of red (as in front door, couch, towels, kitchen towels) - but I am thinking of adding another colour (pink?) as I still have absolutely nothing on walls!! I think grey is about to take over on the forum, there's now a few of us Re: Kitchen benchtop/floor tiles 19Oct 16, 2008 2:01 pm mek I have a grey and white house - Laminex Charcoal kitchen, same for furniture and some Laminex Polar White, stone grey tiles and charcoal carpet, Dulux White on White walls.
