Now for carpet, light or dark? What do you think???

Well it's me again, but this time I'm looking at which colour carpet to get. It will be for the three bedroom and the study which opens directly onto the hallway (this will eventually be my library).

My walls are a beige tone and my tiles are also a bone colour. The carpeted rooms will butt up against floorboards (eventually) but in the meantime we will have polished concrete.

I have attached some pics to give you an idea of our colours so far (i'm sure you are sick of seeing these pics).

The first pic is what we originally thought of having for carpet, but now we are thinking of going darker, like a charcoal colour similar to our tiles around our bath.

Ideas guys???? :?:

I’d be more inclined to match the carpet with your floor tiles; (like you have in the photo) that way you’re flooring flows throughout your home.

It will also give the darker tiles…..around your bath a chance to stand out.

I really like the colour you have chosen I think it would look very nice. I understand the idea of going with a darker carpet but I think your colours look beautiful together and I wouldn't mix them up now. Like Michelle has said also it will be nice and seemless to run from your tiles to your carpet being similar colours.

I'm going to go against the grain - as in michelle's advice - and go with darker. i have similar colours to yours and my carpet is a brown that's very close to your feature tile colour.

My carpet matches my tiles and gives the seamless look

hi miss81, another vote for the light carpet here. It has a lovely texture and will make your rooms feellighter and airier than the dark one.

Thanks for the replies guys. I don't know why but I am leaning towards the darker carpet but I think i will wait until I actually move in. Then I will raid the carpet stores and take some samples and see how I feel living with the different shades!

So I suppose I will have to wait a while and then I will come back and bug you again

That’s a good idea, get lots of samples, that’s the best way!
