Bit that doesn't matter, really. A light sand + u/coat + paint colour. That's all you need to do if you really, really can't find similar.

I just made sure they were extremely clean then stained them with a Cabots timber stain in teak to match our nursery furniture. Turned out brilliantly. I suppose if it is just shelves and you aren't using any cleaner on them, then it sounds like an idea. Paula, I would stick to having what you want made and stained the colour you want, in the long run you will be happy you did. Especially if you are keeping them for a long time. Just stained right over it?? how easy would that be!! Paula - stain never budged once during the two years they were up. They were cleaned regularly with Mr Sheen and I never saw any colour transfer onto the cleaning cloth. Plus they were well laden with all matter of nursery items - books, ceramic items, stuffed toys, nick nacky type things - at no time did the stain come off so I figured that it was good quality stain and would not hesitate to use it again. It looks like they sell concealed brackets though not just the job lot....so you could get a shelf made up and use their bracketry (if that's even a word) Re: floating shelves 29Oct 10, 2008 8:21 am kyton Paula kyton Yep - I didn't even sand my "beech" ones back. But to match I need to stain them...... I think I hate any sort of shelves at the moment!! On a good note I ordered the tub chair and should have it in 5-6 weeks!! Oh and Mish, I can order a new hall table (one that fits the art), I was thinking of getting it 190cm as the art is 160cm. Do you think this is long enough?- any longer and it will be too close to the front door. And I think I've found furniture for the formal lounge - just have to measure it out. Paula Re: floating shelves 33Oct 11, 2008 7:26 pm So that’s where you’ve been……………..SHOPPING!
That’s fine with the hall stand, it just needs to look balanced with the artwork. I think the length will work well. Ooooo more photos?
