My husband and I have just had our plans approved to build our first house. We have waited years to do this and I really want it to be just right. I know that choice of colour is very important. I was wondering if you could help me choose some exterior colours. I don't have a picture to show you of our proposed front elevation but it is similar to the Norfolk house design built by Webb and Brown-Neaves www.wbhomes.com.au We are on a narrow block so I want to make sure that the colours we choose don't make it appear narrower. We are planing to have stainless steel balustrading on the front balcony. The front of the house is 11m wide and has a limestone feature on the second storey. The roof colours we were thinking of were either Colorbond Shale Grey or Colorbond Dune. We were thinking of having a cedar garage and front door but what do you think? We live in a well established area with heritage houses, many of which have silver tin rooves or tiles. I really wanted to try for a timeless look and also fit in with the streetscape. I would love to hear your ideas. Thanks so much BrookeM Re: Please help. I have no idea about colours. 2Oct 05, 2008 8:28 am HI

BrookeM…..I haven’t been well for a few days, still not feeling too flash today. When I feel up to it I’ll have a look at some colours for you. Although I do like what's in the picture above, it’s quite timeless. Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com Re: Please help. Love the wooden windows and doors on this design and the beautiful cedar touches ( gable, garage etc) All I did was right click on the picture on w and B neaaves site and grab the picture location information. then open up a "reply" to your post. click the little "img" button add the copied info then click the "img" button again ( second time it puts it as [/img] ) and it just links the picture directly from the builders site. I added in the builders web page in case they change their links later. If you want a copy for home to save on your computer: right click on the picture and choose "save as" and save the image to your computer. Re: Please help. I have no idea about colours. 7Oct 05, 2008 7:53 pm that is a gorgeous facade BrookeM! It looks like they have used a Dune or Shale Grey roof there? Personally, I would keep it just as is, except maybe change the wood features to white. Very nice, look forward to seeing what you pick. Re: Please help. When we actually went to have a look at the display of this house the roof was actually white/ Colorbond Surfmist. My husband doesn't really want a white roof so i was trying to choose between Dune or Shale Grey. If you went Shale Grey would that still go with the limestone and do you have to go with a grey kind of render? Does grey go with cedar? Our front elevation is slightly different to this, flipped around and balcony over the top of the garage but the picture was our inspiration.
Brooke Re: Please help. I have no idea about colours. 11Oct 06, 2008 8:58 am Paddy I just posted the house BrookeM mentioned from the builders website.
I quite like it myself. but then I would have loved to have had a cedar gable and garage door. I loved that look even before it became really popular. Re: Please help. I have no idea about colours. 12Oct 06, 2008 1:38 pm BrookeM….I have chosen a colour to complement all the Cedar work, which is important here for your home.
IMO you should go with a roof colour either Windspray or Woodland Grey, I think Shale Grey will let you down in appearance. So heres my choice – Roof – Windspray Render – Dulux Saudi Sand Eaves - Limed White Down pipes - Saudi Sand Saudi Sand Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com Re: Please help.
