-Sha Re: Want to Change kitchen (already) - opinions needed!!! 22Oct 04, 2008 9:41 pm I think you have to replace the whole thing, getting the original colour off would be time consuming therefore too costly.
You can’t just paint over the first colour either, as you wont see the new paint through the first colour. I was thinking of paint stripper ? I would offer to do it myself to save costs.. thats a lot of glass to waste.. Good luck with whatever you decide to do.. It really isnt bad.. I think you will be surprised how good it looks, when you have your furniture etc in there.. Why not wait until then, and then make your decision -Sha Re: Want to Change kitchen (already) - opinions needed!!! 24Oct 04, 2008 9:47 pm sha Does anyone know if you can 'repaint' glass splashbacks, or would they have to replace the whole thing? -Sha Good question, I know I could rip it off the wall, scrape the colour and paint it again, but it seems a little scary Here is a pic of the aluminium cupboards! What do you think? Now I will see if I can find a good colour for a splashback and see what the next combination will look like!!!!! (Got any ideas on colours??!) Re: Want to Change kitchen (already) - opinions needed!!! 25Oct 04, 2008 9:48 pm I agree with Sha, I’d wait till you moved in and have everything set up, you might be surprised.
I also like the white wall cupboards; I don’t see a problem there at all! I also think the splashback is fine! Add some chrome bits and pieces to the kitchen, they will blend nice with the depth of the glass. Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com Re: Want to Change kitchen (already) - opinions needed!!! 26Oct 04, 2008 9:52 pm I actually really love the glass..... I think it works brilliantly with the benchtop.
To be honest..... I agree with Southies... I think it's the wall colour. On my monitor, everyhting else looks cool, but the wall looks very warm. But colours on my monitor are not that reliable. Jo edit: I was agreeing with Judie, sorry Judie.... I'm awfully confused lately. I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Terrence Malick Re: Want to Change kitchen (already) - opinions needed!!! 27Oct 04, 2008 9:56 pm hmmm after looking again, i think you are right Jo.. the wall colour is wrong..
I would still add the waterfall. and change the kickboard colour,.. on my screen its very grey.. doesnt seem to go with much... But hey... I am definately not good with colours.. lol I have changed my mind a million times and still have more to go.. I think my builder will sack me soon hahahah -Sha Re: Want to Change kitchen (already) - opinions needed!!! 29Oct 04, 2008 10:01 pm way to go dan. Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com Re: Want to Change kitchen (already) - opinions needed!!! 30Oct 04, 2008 10:04 pm So then, i could keep it as is, but add the waterfall and paint the bulkhead. And add lots of silver stuff.
It seems like changing the top cupboards has lost the vote. So my husband would die if I told him to paint the whole kitchen.... but anyway what colours would you then suggest? The house is open plan, I'm worried that it will look odd being a different colour. Maybe I will have a feature kitchen instead of a feature wall OMG, this is crazy!!!!! Re: Want to Change kitchen (already) - opinions needed!!! 32Oct 04, 2008 10:09 pm I think Dan is amazing... ( I just pm'd him hoping he can work his magic on my kitchen
I think overhead cupboards look fine, and just an expense you may not need.. waterfall is a must! -Sha ( who wishes she had a waterfall in her kitchen!) Re: Want to Change kitchen (already) - opinions needed!!! 34Oct 04, 2008 10:41 pm miss81 So my husband would die if I told him to paint the whole kitchen.... but anyway what colours would you then suggest? The house is open plan, I'm worried that it will look odd being a different colour. But wouldn't chanigng the paint colour e the cheapest option? Sell it to him that way! Great job on the photoshops d@n and Judie! THey both look great. It looks good with the range hood in! Re: Want to Change kitchen (already) - opinions needed!!! 35Oct 04, 2008 10:49 pm I agree with Judie too - I think a different paint colour would be the best option, probably the easiest too. I do think though that you are worrying a bit too much at this stage, it really does look nice as it is even if it's not exactly as you want it- wait until the appliances are in and live with it for a while. That gives you more time to work on your husband too Re: Want to Change kitchen (already) - opinions needed!!! 36Oct 04, 2008 10:51 pm Great work as usual Judie and D@n - you guys are absolute maestros at photo-shopping things.
I think that the overhead cupboards look fine once that paint work is touched up. The waterfall edge just completes it. Re: Want to Change kitchen (already) - opinions needed!!! 37Oct 05, 2008 7:26 am Ok. Me again... Don't change the overhead cupboards. They are fine. Paint the bulk head. It looks much better with the wall colour on it. I don't have an issue with your wall colour. Let it be. I like the waterfall edge, gives a more modern look to the whole thing.
Now the splashback... (Sorry I started that discussion) It depends how I tilt the screen on my computer... sometimes it is a light colour, sometimes a dark one. So, I say, leave it be until you are totally finished. Live with it for 3 months, then if all else fails, look into changing it. Even if the only thing you do is paint the bulk head, I think it will still be a nice kitchen that you will like in the long run. Good luck. Lin Re: Want to Change kitchen (already) - opinions needed!!! 38Oct 05, 2008 8:46 am Step 1: Paint the bulkhead
Step 2: Add the waterfall edge Step 3: live with it! And then while I live with it, I will look at colours to paint. Lighter or darker? And play with cut and paste You guys are amazing! Re: Want to Change kitchen (already) - opinions needed!!! 39Oct 05, 2008 9:24 am My top cupboards have the laminate continuing to the roof, I thought they would all be like that, if not I think it would definitely look better if you could get your bulkhead matched the cupboards or the rest of the walls.
Have you made any enquiries as to whether you can add the waterfall edge on the bench, I had asked a similar question and the kitchen expert (I've forgotten his name, maybe Kevin ) had said it wasn't a viable option, if it is though I think you should do it (I will too ) I checked my kitchen pic and my front panel doesn't extend out on the side, does yours actually do that or does it just look like it in the photo? Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ I really like your splashback colour, but it would be good if you could incorporate the same colour somewhere else, I wonder if you could change the kickboards to a matching colour? Or else maybe a feature wall somewhere in veiw in a matching hue? (sorry don't want to confuse the situation anymore but thought I would suggest anyway ) If your patio is going to be 35 sqm then that's going to need Council Approval. The fact that they previously approved your 25sqm patio will be irelevant 1 5511 I would be wary. Is you site demilished but nothing else done? Sounds like liquidity problems to me.
