Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Oct 04, 2008 3:46 pm I'm having second thoughts about my internal paint colour.
Probably irrelevant, but here is some background to why I'm feeling this dilemma...Our house so far has alot of 'grey-ness' about it. Bricks: Victoria Blue (Boral) Render & cladding colour: Surfmist (colorbond) Fascia, Garage Door, Front Door: Shale Grey (colorbond) Roof: Ironstone Colorbond Windows: APO Grey Tiles to wet area: Grey (not sure of make) This is the Front so far Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ This is the back so far Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ We are getting the builder to do the same colour throughout and will later do our own feature walls with paint or wallpaper (I'm like some of the ones on the porters paint website). The paint colour we've choosen at the moment is: Tundra Mist (P232-N1) Bristol Paints. We were originally wanting Dulux Gazebo White, and this was the closest we could get in the builders range... The HUB of our house will be the Kitchen/Meals/Family Our Kitchen selection is: C/Stone: Ice Cupboards: Classic White (Polytech) Glass spashback: Gaby's Gold Metallic Flooring: Spotted Gum (downstairs) Carpet (upstairs) OK, so to my question after this long winded post (sorry ) is, Do you think this is too much 'grey-ness' and should I re-think the 'white' colour and look at warmer tones like Taubmans Snowy White or China Doll. Any suggestions or advice welcome... this, like everything about our build, is doing my head in Thanks in advance Re: Internal Paint Colour Dilemma... 3Oct 04, 2008 5:59 pm Clarity….I’m not a big fan of grey throughout a house, if its not done right can be a little cold.
BUT, you are having timber floors, this will add warmth. The grey is very soft and complemented with the white I think it will look nice. Keep the white trims; against the timber it will look very fresh. Also you are having feature walls so there is another opportunity to have colour. So I don’t think it will look bad at all. As well, it’s nice to have a flow of colours from the externals to the internals. Michelle, THANK YOU. Definitely keeping the white trims and the spotted gum!! We also have some quite dark indian and indonesian furniture. I suppose, I was also concerned with the kitchen/meals area the most as there will be alot of stainless steal appliances too. But definitely will be adding colour through accessories, art, photos etc. At least if I do make a mistake with the paint colour - I can change it. I'm still undecided, but Thanks very much. Re: Internal Paint Colour Dilemma... 5Oct 04, 2008 6:27 pm I’ve got the dark Balinese style furniture as well.
I chose a dark off white to complement the timber. I chose a dark off white to complement the timber. That looks great Michelle I really like the wood hanging art. This is the table we currently have, with 'chocolate leather chairs, I'm also thinking of going this cream colour, but have 3 kids that have 30 dirty fingers between them. DH knows all about this stuff Re: Internal Paint Colour Dilemma... 7Oct 04, 2008 6:55 pm If you do the chairs in a good quality vinyl, they will wipe clean no problem!
Nice table. I want the timber block units in the background! Fingers crossed it will look OK 😀 2 7140 Thanks. Yeh ideally that would have been good, but have progressed too far now. Hoping some well placed internal walls fixed up into the battens will provide some… 2 5370 Thank you alexp79 and gommeqld for your advice, that's very helpful, thanks 3 7889 |
