Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Mar 25, 2012 5:15 pm Hi I am having trouble finding some inspiration for a section in my soon to be renovated living room. I am stuck as to how to design the wall behind our freestanding wood heater. Imagine there is a long wall behind the wood heater, about 4 metres. 1.3 mtrs of wall directly behind the heater is recessed about 3 cms. This was with the intention on filling it with stack stone. But the more I look at stack stone I can't seem to find a colour that I really like. So can you suggest other options? I can think of perhaps painted a different colour? or some kind of tiles? The walls will likely be a warm white, floors likely to be blackbutt or stringybark. Thanks!! Re: Feature wall behind wood heater 2Mar 25, 2012 6:20 pm Sandstone tile? Prob after something darker than sandstone, starting to think maybe a copper style look....going to check out some tile shops tomorrow Re: Feature wall behind wood heater 4Mar 27, 2012 1:28 pm I saw on here the other day someone was going to go with Ledgestone - a bit chunkier than Stackstone .... Re: Feature wall behind wood heater 6Mar 27, 2012 5:19 pm I’d give the stackstone a miss behind an open fire, to much of an uneven surface, major soot collector. Look for a semi to full gloss floor or wall tile 600x600 easy to clean. Probably need to see the whole room to give colour advice. Can you post a pic? Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com I might be misunderstanding.... but I would be more inclined to cut a section out from the cinder block wall and place the cistern in the cinder block wall.
