My partner is hell bent on keeping these ugly window shutter things on our house...I hate them! So my question is, can someone suggest some colours for our gutters, fascias, and those window shutters to help give it more street appeal? Match fascia with those posts. Planning on rendering the house? The shutters stand out because of the contrast of colours off the bricks. I often wonder if people actually use them or if they're just for decoration. Re: In a pickle...need help! 4Jan 21, 2012 9:37 am Try painting the shutters the same colour as the windows? I would probably paint the shutters charcoal grey, black or chocolate, and then paint all the gutters, posts and decorative features in a bright off-white. You could also try painting the shutters a pretty colour. If they are going to stay, embrace them as a feature, rather than trying to hide them. Americans always use shutters and they can look lovely... In a cream brick home with a "heavy" frontage the shutters seem to add to the "closed" look IMO. That way they are there, but they won't stand out and yell.....Look at Me! Quietly blending into the background..... If your happy with that, I'll look at a colour scheme for you. The gf has seen those pics and suggestion and is now adamant they must stay Hi Michelle, that would be great if you could do that! Re: In a pickle...need help! 10Jan 23, 2012 5:21 am Blues, I have put up Dulux Jodhpurs as the shutter colour. But I think you are going to have to get a paint brochure and hold the colours next the bricks to find the correct colour to help them blend in. By the way, leave your windows the colour they are. Dulux Speedwell is a deep Blue/Grey colour, this should give your house a lift.
