I take after my dad..... can't even sew a button on a shirt.... sad, I know!!! Even though they turned out ok, I probably should stick to the building houses part of the forum...I love homeone!!! Re: Christmas Food - ideas 22Dec 13, 2011 12:25 pm I think you might have inherited a few of her genes,...just needed this forum to bring those genes out in ya you have done a great job, you should be very proud of yourself in a very self righteous type of way!! stormy, if no pics...then it isnt true. (we want cakes, we want cakes...) Re: Christmas Food - ideas 23Dec 13, 2011 1:15 pm kiwi tinkster Kiwi would love to know how you make 17 in 2 hours!! I can only make my houses alone...no distractions Roll, cut, cook 5 mins, cool, assemble, ice, lollies...done! Kiwi, I thought I would do a trial run of gingerbread boxes before attempting your gingerbread houses ... big mistake. It took me fours hours to make 4 small boxes and they didn't look much like the picture in the Coles magazine http://recipes.coles.com.au/recipes/148 ... ead-boxes/ They put them together with white chocolate - do you know how hard that is to work with??? They are finished with icing which was easier. Some great ides on this thread ... For info on our build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=43093 Built the McLaren by Dechellis - slab down 22 Feb - handover 30 Aug 2011 - and gardens finished 9 Dec 2012!! Re: Christmas Food - ideas 24Dec 13, 2011 1:52 pm I saw that last week on the coles site when I was looking for choc chip bicies and saw the boxes. White chocolate would set pretty quick. Bet they tasted yum though! Re: Christmas Food - ideas 25Dec 13, 2011 2:07 pm kiwi stormy, if no pics...then it isnt true. (we want cakes, we want cakes...) LOL... ask Kek, she's 'seen' them! The puddings are cute Re: Christmas Food - ideas 32Dec 22, 2011 7:51 am In big w here you can buy boxes of the mini candy canes individually wrapped, but they are in loose celo bags instead of the tight wrap! We are going to make some today for our gift baskets of goodies, thanks for the ideas! Broom, love your reindeer bickies! Re: Christmas Food - ideas 33Dec 22, 2011 10:58 am Big w, soooo lucky!! Will have to really have a good search here if they do have them in oz, they must be here somewhere. They are so cute I make choc christmas trees with choc fingers and white choc is the glue. You get 3 trees out a pack of griffins chocolate finger biscuits. Wrapped in cellophane they are cute gifts too Re: Christmas Food - ideas 34Dec 22, 2011 11:04 am I bought the mini candy canes from Big W a few weeks ago. They are all different colours and flavours! 100 of them for under $5 , although I still like using just the red/white ones. Heaps at The Reject Shop, 50 in a box for $3, wrapped in cellophane bags, not vac sealed as others. Last year I bought a big tub of 100 for $5 at K Mart, but I didn't see them this year. I made 24 last night for 2 teachers, as well as 45 chocolate royal plum puddings for 2 classes. I think they went down well!! Photos later....too busy at the moment! Henley - Wilshire Mk 3 ... I decided to name cookies for all of the kidlets who will be there on Christmas Day-our 3 grandsons, 2 of our nieces and 2 of our nephews. To make sure that there are no squabbles due to the length of anyone's name I have added stars to make sure that everyone has the same number of cookies as their siblings!
