Browse Forums Recipes 1 Oct 10, 2011 3:14 pm hi, We always make simple quick soups ( those cut into cubes and boil for 20 mins to an hour). I always wish to try those you need to puree to get a creamy, smooth taste, but unsure of the strain. Could I pour everything from the processor, including the puree and strain to the serving bowl or really just need the puree in the soup bowl? So how do you deal with the strain? Discard? I read somewhere before that the strain still keep most of the nutrients from the food. tks Spring is here! Hurray! Re: How do you do with the strain? 2Oct 10, 2011 6:20 pm When I make pumpkin soup I have the mix on the stove top and use my hand mix to make it into a puree. I've never done the same thing with a whole lot of other veges but it would work the same way one would assume. Re: How do you do with the strain? 4Oct 10, 2011 6:51 pm + 1 for the stick blender, I blend everything in the pot. The only time I throw something away, is the scum that you get on the top when you are cooking dried beans and lentils. TBH I couldnt live without my stick blender. I have the Braun multiquick with the stainless steel shaft. I use the whisk attachment for cream, its much quicker than using my electric beaters. The little processor is great too, especially to blend carrots and cellery for a pasta sauce (hidden veg!). Sorry... wrote a little more than I meant to.... Re: How do you do with the strain? 5Oct 10, 2011 7:14 pm I love makeing soups. I do it in the slow cooker - put all ingredients in cooker, with water and stock and spices; when soft enough, mash with stick blender in the pot, adding any cream after that. I make pumpkin soup, potato and bacon soup, mixed vegetable soup, cream of cauliflower soup etc - I dont do any straining - just mash whole lot up together. So easy.
