I was just reading the Christmas Lunch thread and it got me thinking about my favorite meals. Just wondered if anyone would be keen to post their fav recipes. I will have a think and then post one in the morning. The turkey recipe I just made was pretty good but it is too long before anyone will want to make that one. So I will come up with something else. Re: All Time Favorite Recipe 2Dec 28, 2008 7:45 pm I don't use recipes... I do everything by taste and guesswork.
I generally only cook savoury dishes though... if I cook a sweet dish I may use a recipe... but that's not often..... Hmmm... maybe Tiramisu.... I 'll have to find my recipe though. I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Terrence Malick Re: All Time Favorite Recipe 4Dec 29, 2008 12:27 pm Love sauerkraut Mek! Also love pickled herring and cold potatoes .
I'm happy to post our Xmas feast list if anyone is interested ... but you can get step by step instructions from Nigella herself: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/food/ ... guide.html best items were: spiced turkey, gingerbread stuffing & spiced gravy. Gorgeous. Re: All Time Favorite Recipe 5Dec 29, 2008 7:20 pm Must be the xmas season but I'm in the process of baking a chocolate fruit cake for dad's 60th birthday party.
DH loves my cooking but he is getting tired of running to specialty shops for the ingredients ... like muscavado sugar . I really enjoy cooking when I'm not too tired to be creative. Re: All Time Favorite Recipe 6Dec 29, 2008 8:36 pm I love love cooking but have to be in the mood and plus am trying not to use the oven in this rental - to keep it nice and sparkling clean. So heavy duty cooking will have to wait until I am in my own kitchen with my dream cooker - sigh!!.
My last fad was on strawberry and rhubarb pies. My gorgeous FIL is always so nice about my cooking - he adored them so I was making them nearly every week. Some things are worth waiting for. Re: 7Dec 08, 2011 6:54 pm mek Well if anyone wants my recipe for Sauerkraut Soup, I'll post it. That's sour cabbage for all you Aussies. hey mek, here i am sharing with you Sauerkraut Soup with Sausage: Ingredients 1 pound smoked sausage, such as kielbasa, diced 1 large onion, finely chopped 1 rib celery, finely chopped 1 tablespoon minced garlic 1 cup hard cider 1 (32-ounce) jar sauerkraut, drained and rinsed briefly 8 cups canned low-sodium chicken broth 1 cup peeled and cubed potatoes 3 sprigs fresh thyme 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper Directions Heat a large soup pot over medium-high heat and add the sausage. Cook until the sausage is caramelized and the fat is rendered, 4 to 6 minutes. Add the onions and celery and cook, stirring occasionally, until vegetables are soft and lightly browned, about 4 minutes. Add the garlic and cook, stirring, for 1 minute. Add the cider and cook until almost completely reduced. Add the sauerkraut, broth, potatoes, thyme and pepper and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat to a low simmer and cook, stirring occasionally, until potatoes and sauerkraut are very tender and the broth is flavorful, 45 minutes to 1 hour. A question. Im in Queensland and building a new home. We managed to reach practical completion 6 weeks ago but we haven't heard any date for handover yet. Who should we… 0 5807 This is one of the reasons I decided to go overseas for my double glazed windows. As the builder indicated, he's worked on many upmarket builds, these were the most well… 13 19239 9 24792 |
