Hi,
New member and rookie homeowner. I am in the middle of my first bathroom build at home, and have an issue with the drain height. where i am at : I hired a contractor to come and level the floor prior to waterproofing, he sloped all the falls to the center drain which worked well. I installed the puddle flange and recessed it in so the drain would be 25mm drain would sit 15mm above the surface of the finished floor giving me ample room to put 10mm tiles and 5mm thinset for a proper drainage. Problem is now its waterproofed and sealed im finding the drain sits up 25mm :0
so for it to drain properly i am going to need aprox 15mm dry thickness of the thinset for the drain to sit level to the tile. I intended using Davco smp evo after speaking to the rep. (everything has been done with davco products so figured may as well make sure everything was compatible. this product has max thickness of 10 mm and going to be near impossible to tile that thick.
I have already cut all the tiles around the drain ready to be laid so makes it hard to find a slimmer drain. Looking for some advice .... my options at this stage appear to be,
1, raise the shower floor again to accommodate (not ideal as i would have to raise the entire floor not just the shower area)
2. cut the drain down and try get another drain to fit into the housing ( (going to be hard to find a drain that will fit properly)
3. find an adhesive the would suit for this application (tiles wont sink when drying, stable, suitable for wet applications over k10plus membrane,
hoping to find an adhesive and get this done,
Porcelain tiles
k10plus membrane
davco SMP evo ( bought 3 bags, not sure if this will work) Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅
