Browse Forums Renovation + Home Improvement 1 Apr 30, 2020 6:09 pm Hello everyone, I plan to add 2nd level and upgrade ground level to my double brick house. Ground level renovation includes demolishing of one internal wall and two external walls. One Builder suggested following construction sequence 1, structure engineer generates report 2, start and finish 2nd level construction first 3, start ground level renovation Builder said it is okay to demolish the ground level walls afterwards because the walls will become non-load-bearing walls. It sounds interesting because our family don’t have to move out while 2nd level is being built but I am afraid the demolishing may damage the structure. Can anyone give some suggestions please? I'd be wanting to know if it could be more cost effective to do it in one hit, and reducing things like number of crane truck trips ($400hr, minimum trip $400 for pretty much every Crane truck in Melbourne) Make sure you weigh up both sides Re: 2nd level addition 6May 01, 2020 6:05 pm I am not the professional constructer, but stay in home when building the 2nd floor sounds not so good, not even work at home.. you will find it out when they start, if it's faster they working on both floors, move out for a while maybe a good choice:) micwallpaper.com.au Picture your wall to a view Hi there, We’ve recently had plans approved to add a 1st storey addition to our existing house for a growing family in Sydney.
