Browse Forums Renovation + Home Improvement 1 Apr 18, 2020 1:45 pm I am looking to build in some rooms under my house. My problem is that it is all asphalt underneath and rain will often run under house. My plan was to use some tuffblocks (plastic prefab foundations) to lift the floor approx 50mm off ground. Given that part of the floor would be supporting my wife's gym equipment, what recommendations do you have? Floor would be approx 4.1m wide and however long I choose to close in. Height is no issue, as you can see from picture. Thanks in advance, Groffo. Stewie Re: How would you build the floor to allow water to travel u 3Apr 19, 2020 9:44 am There is a drain on the right side of the picture. I am on acreage so there are no council drains to connect too. Is there any issue with just lifting the floor 50mm so any water that runs through can go straight through to drain? Re: How would you build the floor to allow water to travel u 4Apr 19, 2020 10:07 am Personally I've never liked solutions that are invariably cheap and only short term. Any drainage issues we have encountered as part of renovations we have undertaken for clients have involved a properly constructed drain - whether that was a surface half pipe or subsurface ag line all connected to either the councils stormwater lines or to a dispersal system. I'm unfamiliar with the product you are talking about. Stewie Thanks for your advice. So far i have not noticed any issues with doors and windows. Builder advised they will organise drainers to inspect 2 weeks ago but no further… 7 18829 Just removed 40 liters of water in the span of 2 hours. Water fills up the hole just above the seepage point and doesn't overflow. 1 960 |
