Browse Forums Renovation + Home Improvement 1 Feb 19, 2020 11:45 am Greetings all, my first pos t:) I live in a Double Brick apartment from the last 60's I believe. The render on the wall is full of small patches and the render finish is very grainy. What Product / Tools should I be using to get a smooth finish for painting? (I was going to sand it down and use some sort of Polyfilla to smooth the wall) Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: How do I fix this Moonscape render 2Feb 20, 2020 1:03 pm In the past I owned a unit which had very poor quality sand/cement render that was grainy like yours but in worse condition. In the combined kitchen / dining room and loungeroom I ended up sanding the whole wall well then applying gyprock finish cement over the whole wall, letting it dry, sanding it back, then three coats of paint. A bit of effort but well worth it. It came out not as smooth as plasterboard but not as rough as sponge finished render - sort of halfway. The other rooms I patched the worst holes or depressions then hit the walls with extra coats of paint which came out pretty good. Stewie Hey guys, what’s everyone opinion on James Hardie linea direct fix to frame? Would this be the most common method and anybody ever had any problems down the track? 0 5151 DIY, Home Maintenance & Repair If the railhead is so poorly fixed it is also likely that the railhead is also non compliant, what about overflows and sealing railhead to the gutters?. 3 5972 |
