I've discovered that the house I was renting (built in early 70s) had been unsafely renovated in a DYI job.
A few months before I moved in, the owner renovated the bathroom, kitchen, and floors without being concerned about asbestos.
After I found out I vacated the property, so this small photo is all I have (taken a while ago due to unrelated issue) of a part of the kitchen floor that was left unrenovated and still has the original floor intact. The rest of the kitchen floor has been replaced with polished timber.
Does it look like vinyl flooring? I'm particularly concerned as I read asbestos-backed vinyl floors (with 80-100% friable asbestos) often have a 'terrazzo' pattern, and this to me looks like it.
I'm concerned that the owner ripped up the vinyl floor when laying the timber floor, spreading asbestos fibres everywhere.
Obviously it's not as dangerous as being right there when ripping the floor up, but the residual friable asbestos left behind would have gone into my vacuum, stirred up everywhere etc. I'm terrified and on hindsight should've asked for a sample to be tested, but that can't be done now.
Would really appreciate any thoughts.
