Browse Forums Renovation + Home Improvement 1 Apr 09, 2019 8:54 am Hi Everyone. Recently bought our first house in Brisbane North. We have a driveway that slopes up to the double garage. Our plan is to turn the double garage into an office space and build a double carport in the driveway before we start work spiffing up the garage. To do this we need to remove some concrete in the driveway and cut into the slope to make it flat. I feel a bit confused not knowing what type of company to get quotes from for the job though. Should I be looking at someone who does driveways/concreting for the driveway element of the job, or should I be going straight to companies that do carports and asking them to do the whole lot? If anyone has done a similar thing to their property I would also love to hear your experiences. Any advice is appreciated, I’m in my 20’s and haven’t really had a lot of experience getting quotes from tradesmen before so any help would be great. Re: Levelling driveway to build carport 2Apr 11, 2019 8:46 am unlikely that carport company will do the levelling. i recommend you finalise carport first, take specifications from them about "how they want the levelling" and then approach the driveway company. why not leave the slope as it is and install carport above? the levelling might create new issues like additional drainage, retaining wall, steps. Control joints may reduce ugly cracking during periods of soil… 3 9826 |
