Just moved into new house. Outside bricks have effoversence and mortar is turning powdery in many parts. Will get it repointed.
Inside we have noticed that some rooms have a musty smell.
It had rising damp issues in past as we noticed the previous owners had tried to treat it with the injections.
We managed to find a manhole under some carpet and took our first look under the subfloor yesterday. What do you think this white stuff is … it is a bit gooey and in patches brownish/yellow colour where it is more damp. .. likely Mold or salt damp?
The bearers & floors board look clean but it is all over the brickwork. Is this something we should be concerned about, or it is quite common?
