Browse Forums Renovation + Home Improvement 1 May 03, 2018 1:07 pm Hi Guys, My builder is charging me a lot with no credit for swapping from attached shower head to a double shower head (the one with smaller hand held shower head e.g.: https://www.bunnings.com.au/mondella-wels-3-star-7-5l-min-chrome-resonance-shower-exposed-rail-and-hand-set_p5003179) Questions: do you think its easy to swap them out? Is it costly to do post build with a plumber? Or can it easily be done? Or should I pay the $250 install cost + price of hardware (I don't even get a choice in the hardware). And no the builder doesn't allow me to supply the hardware. Builder`s standard range is very easy to install hence all builders are using it. Some of the twin shower head have the exact same inlet making change over very easy. But it may require additional holes to be drilled which will affect water proofing if done wrong. The bunnings one seem to be rail shower which have water inlet integrated into shower rail. This would be difficult to change over as the mounting hardware are completely different. Better to check with plumber first and if you are willing to risk builder`s warranty. Re: Replacing standard shower head with a double shower head 3May 03, 2018 7:38 pm pandibabi Ouch $250 (bucks) labour to swap it over? As mentioned what are you going to do when he screw fixes the rail into the tiling...? Ask to have the flexible hose attached dangling & leave off the rail fixing & swap them over yourself. hth Designer,Engineer (Civil,Const & Envir),Builder,Concrete & Masonry Contract.Struct Repairs Re: Replacing standard shower head with a double shower head 4May 04, 2018 11:21 am StructuralBIMGuy @pandibabi Ouch $250 (bucks) labour to swap it over? Ask to have the flexible hose attached dangling & leave off the rail fixing & swap them over yourself. hth I've been asking around, aparently as long as the double shower head I choose uses the one rail, like the Bunnings example, then it will be easy to swap over after the build.. So I might do that.. saves me about $1K.. Re: Replacing standard shower head with a double shower head 5May 05, 2018 7:41 am I would do the same.. doubt i would need a plumber to swap over a simple shower head OT, As many battlers & punters on this forum are aware after entering Contracts some builders/tradesmen will leave you with these options 1. Take it (at a ridiculous price) 2. Leave it and do without 3. Place you in a worse position trying to sort it out later on Always weigh up the options before deciding one way.. or the other.. as there are always better solutions which only become apparent with facts + proofs Thanks for sharing Designer,Engineer (Civil,Const & Envir),Builder,Concrete & Masonry Contract.Struct Repairs I'll look into different shower heads and ask the plumber about some engineering and see what he says. Thanks 2 9551 If you can calculate the reasonable charged head from let's say 100mm below the gutter to the top of where the vertical riser's horizontal discharge pipe will be, that… 11 17524 2 8297 |
